Minakami Halbtages Canyoning Abenteuer

Great guides! Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! Sliding down waterfalls was amazing! When we went we had our group (English speaking family of five with mom,dad, and three teenage boys), a group of three Japanese speaking young men in their 20s, and a Japanese speaking father taking his pre-teen son and two of his friends. The guides gave personalized attention to each of us, with our varying skill levels. (Dan and Mike were great!) After going through this experience I felt close to all the other Canyoners, in spite of the language barriers. I recommend this strongly as a fun activity, but also as a team-building experience for friends, families, or other groups. You should do this!

We had a great time canyoning - there are loads of slides and a really fun drop. Guides were lovely and very professional. Safety was really important to everyone in the company.

We had an amazing experience with Canyons. This is a well-run company that provides great service and great experiences. We took the Whitewater Rafting/Canyoning combo experience in Minakami and loved it. Our guides were awesome and it was the highlight of our Japan trip. Highly recommend Canyons. They take care of everything.

What a fun introduction to canyoning! The guides were fun and safe and accommodated all abilities on the tour. The gear provided was great and the camp/facilities was well set up. Our only wish was that we were in the water longer - two hours went by too fast.

The views were stunning and our amazing guides took lots of great photos and videos of us. It was a great challenge and a refreshing adventure for the mind, body and soul. Our tour mainly involved jumps from various heights, rappelling and swimming/floating in the pristine waters of the Ultimate Crystal Canyons. This is a highly recommended tour for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Amazing guides, who managed to teach us some tricks and motivated our son and daughter to jump off the rocks with a front flip. Would redo any time!!

It was my first time canyoning, and it was amazing. As it was a weekday, I could book the experience the night before. We traveled from Nagano-ken during the morning and experienced Fox Canyon by afternoon. It was a good choice for first-timers. Our guides (Alex and Toshi) were great, they explained everything and made us feel safe during all the experience. Alex was very patient and calmed me down when I was scared. All the staff at the base were very receptive, giving us a good vibe.

As a Kiwi living in Japan, I had heard about Canyons and its founder Mike Harris many times, but hadn't had the opportunity to visit Minakami itself. My husband and I had done some canyoning informally, but definitely wouldn't call ourselves experienced. The level was perfect- challenging but not too difficult, and super fun overall. Part of what made the experience was the instructors (both expats and Japanese who were young but experienced and professional), and the other group participants with whom we built great camaraderie. We very much enjoyed the trip overall, though next time would rent a car to travel to Minakami as the public transport options were infrequent and there was a lot to see off the beaten path that trains and buses didn't allow us access to.

It was an exciting experience and a very meaningful time. Forgetting the summer heat, we enjoyed river activities while enjoying forest bathing.

We went to Canyons only intending to do one canyoning trip but we loved it so much we went back and experienced the next canyoning experience that we unlocked. The canyons are breathtaking, the water is crystal clear and the abseiling, sliding and jumping into the gorges was challenging and exciting. The guides were supportive and a lot of fun. Much of the time, we found ourselves laughing. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Canyons and cannot recommend it enough! We created so many fabulous memories that we will carry with us forever!
