Would recommend! Flying is the way to do Milford Sound. The flight was actually the highlight of tour, taken over snow covered mountains and glaciers, views that would make you think you’ve gone to another planet. Isabelle was our pilot, very friendly and full of interesting info about the geography & history of the area. Very confident & relaxed pilot so even in that small 10 seater plane you always felt safe and had an easy comfy ride in. The cruise was lovely too, dress as warm as you can in winter months would be my tip. But if you get cold you can go inside the boat as it wasn’t small and plenty of areas to sit down and get a $7 hot chocolate. One potential negative or something to plan around if you can is the fact that this tour is heavily weather dependent. Our tour was rescheduled because the conditions were deemed not good enough for it to go ahead. (Fog/raining/hazy) Lucky we had another day free after so we could reschedule and got lucky on weather for that day. But if you don’t plan a couple of free/flexible holiday days after your scheduled tour you may not be able to do it at all! In summary; if you’re going to do Milford Sound. Fly there with Glenorchy Air & Isabelle- but plan for possible weather rescheduling

Our flight-cruise-flight experience to Milford Sound was absolutely unforgettable and the highlight so far of our New Zealand trip! Flying over the Southern Alps with my husband gave us breathtaking views that you simply can’t appreciate from the road. The cruise through Milford Sound was spectacular, with towering waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, and incredible scenery in every direction. The entire experience was seamless, and the staff made it even more enjoyable. If you’re visiting Queenstown, this is a must-do experience—worth every penny and a memory we’ll cherish forever!

Annabelle was an amazing pilot and guide. The whole trip was stunning. I wouldn’t catch the bus ever again. Fly every time. Glenorchy air were fantastic, friendly people and great communication. Being able to sit up front was the best part coming back.

What a fantastic experience! I got to sit in the front (one of the benefits of being a solo traveller) and she asked if I wanted to hear all the transmissions from air traffic control/other aircraft, which was really cool! The scenery was SO stunning. The flights were definitely the highlight, although the cruise was incredibly cool as well (we saw dolphins and even a penguin!!) I also appreciated how proactive the company was, reaching out a couple days before and letting me know the weather wasn’t looking good, which gave me enough time to switch around my tours, and fortunately the day I’d switched to had good flying weather!

Very cool trip. Ivan and Annabelle took great care of us on the ride (car and plane) to Milford Sound, and the scenery by plane and boat was spectacular. Loved the entire experience, and so did the entire family.

We flew to Milford Sound with Glenorchy Air and did the Southern Discoveries cruise, and honestly it’s the best thing we did in Queenstown. Our pilot Ben was fantastic, and the flight itself was smooth and easy in both directions, We were lucky with the weather too, clear skies the whole way. Flying in over the mountains and dropping into the Milford sound is something photos can’t do justice. The cruise was incredible, up close with the waterfalls, and we were lucky to spot a seal on the rocks.

We booked this as a last minute thing and didn’t had time to read the fine print’s based on photos posted on the booking page. Long story cut short we arrived to the airport and were greeted by the pilot and walked to the terminal where there was 3 planes Two were 13 passengers limit and we walked past them to this tiny plane and my daughter panicked and started crying that she is scared to go on such a small plane. The pilot said he might be able to swap to the other plane by it was too late as my daughter was already distressed and scared. For every one out there thinking of booking make sure you ask for the plane size as they just care about there profits and they should have more information on what they are providing. If I showed a picture of the small plane to my daughter we would have not booked it in the first place. No refund or partial refund offered even for the boat trip in Milford sound. I’m pretty shore the boat provider filled those spots.
