This was definitely one of the most unforgettable experiences of a lifetime for both my husband & I. We really enjoyed the Morocco Imperial Cities & Sahara Desert tour which was 9 days and 8 nights. The camel ride through the Sahara & overnight camping with the Berbers was a definite highlight for us as well as Chefchaouen, Fez, Marrakech & Rabat! Both Mohammed & Fares were great! Communication over email & WhatsApp was very clear with prompt responses. Fares was an excellent driver with extremely good english. He was very accommodating and helpful. We would without a doubt highly reccomend Fares for anyone wanting to see all of Morocco by minivan. The minivan we had was brand new, clean, tidy with great air conditioning and lots of room. We felt completely comfortable. We don't have a lot to fault. My only sugg
We booked this very very late and the tour operator was accommodating of this. We really didn't know what to expect when we arrived but our anxieties were relieved after we met the driver at the airport in a nearly new minibus with the company branding on it. Our driver put as at ease as he appeared trustworthy and spoke a good level of English. Looking at the hotels first of all, they were all excellent except the one in Casablanca was pretty awful. The Desert camp was a real gem and surprise, however no AC (to be expected) which made the evening unbearably hot inside the night. Outside was very very pleasant however. We had breakfast and lunch at each overnight stop, all pretty good, but be aware that most of these were buffet. We had two city tours with guides, Yousef in Fes was excellent, as was our guide in Marrakech. In other cities, our driver would give us explanations and history of sites and places we were stopping at, with guides inside some attractions. Fares, our driver was excellent, not only did he know his history but also about the land and agriculture and the various people such as nomads. Fares also has an excellent knowledge of good food spots, that are off the beaten track. He gave us time to wander around sites whilst he waiting in the vehicle for us to come back. I appreciate that some may want to be held by their hand all the way through, but I think this balance was better. Fares was always prompt to pick us up every morning and start the day. In addition with the attractions, we were taking to places where artisans would make things such as zelij tiles, the tannery etc. These were nice places to visit and the techniques and history of what they do was all very interesting, however some of these shop owners were using pressure selling tactics. It's a small point to be aware of, but there is no real other way of seeing artisans at work so I can live with pushy salesman. The minibus itself was brand new, working AC and comfortable. All of this was a massive relief as the temperatures outside were soaring well past 40 on most days. Having now seen and experienced the roads of Morocco, the Atlas mountains and the associated mountain ranges, this is not a drive that most experienced drivers from the UK could do. Fares has many years experience, which showed as we felt safe throughout the journey. I have seen some reviews where people expected something different, I think as a result of incorrect expectations. I think it is better to go into this tour without expectation and allow yourself to enjoy Morocco. There is so much we did and see on this tour that I haven't listed everything.
