Auf dieser Tagestour von Chennai aus besuchen wir die Zwillingswunder der Pallava-Architektur, Mahabalipuram und Kanchipuram. Diese Tour wird von einer Five Senses Tours veranstaltet, die ein vom Tourismusministerium zugelassenes Unternehmen ist und auch Mitglied der renommierten indischen Vereinigung der Reiseveranstalter ist. Wir werden die herrlichen Tempel von Ekambareswar & Kailashnath in Kanchipuram bedecken. Danach besuchen wir den antiken Seehafen Mahabalipuram und besuchen die legendären Felsformationen Arjunas Buße, Five Rathas und den ikonischen Shore Tempel, der ab dem 8. Jahrhundert buchstäblich als Leuchtfeuer für Seefahrer diente. Das Unternehmen fördert den lokalen Lebensunterhalt, indem es lokale Guides ausbildet und beschäftigt und lokale Unternehmen unterstützt. Wir besuchen Ekambareswarar aus der Pallava-Dynastie, um diese architektonischen Wunder zu schätzen. Diese wurden im Jahr 600 n. Chr. Gebaut und sind prächtige Exemplare des Pallava-Baustils.
Wir werden den herrlichen Tempel des Kailasanathar-Tempels aus Pallava-Zeiten besuchen. Kanchipuram war die Hauptstadt des mittelalterlichen südindischen Königreichs Pallavas. Die Pallavas waren maßgeblich am Übergang von der Felsarchitektur zu Steintempeln beteiligt. Wir werden diese architektonischen Wunder schätzen, die in 600 n. Chr. Gebaut wurden.
Mahabalipuram ist eine alte Stadt und war in der römischen Zeit als Handelsposten bekannt. Während der Herrschaft der Pallava-Dynastie mit Sitz in Kanchipuram im 7. Jahrhundert n. Chr. Wurde sie als lebhafter Seehafen bekannt. Schiffe, die von Südindien nach Südostasien fuhren, fuhren früher vom Hafen Mahabalipuram ab. Panch Rathas oder die 5 Wagen sind unser erstes Ziel. Es handelt sich um Felsformationen aus monolithischen Tempeln, die Draupadi und den 5 Pandavas aus dem epischen Mahabharata gewidmet sind.
Wir besuchen auch Arjuna's Penance, ein 100 x 45 Fuß großes Relief, in dem ein ganzes Meisterwerk aus dem Mahabharata-Epos geschnitzt wurde.
Der nächste Halt ist bei Krishna’s Butterball, einem kuriosen Anblick eines kugelförmigen Felsblocks mit einem Durchmesser von 5 Metern, der prekär an einem Hang liegt und Newtons Schweregesetzen trotzt!
Der legendäre Marco Polo bezeichnete Mahabalipuram als die Stadt der 7 Pagoden. Der Shore-Tempel ist der einzige dieser 7 Tempel, die die Verwüstungen der Zeit überstanden haben. Der Magnificent Shore-Tempel lockt uns. Dieser Bautempel aus dem 8. Jahrhundert besteht aus Granit und diente Seebauern der damaligen Zeit als Leuchtturm.

Tour Guide Jainath and driver Mahendran arrived early to Hotel with a comfortable AC transport Car. Tour Guide extremely Knowledgeable of Historical Sites and was able to properly answer all questions I had. Driver was safe. I would Highly recommended tour if short on time and want a grand experience of Ancient Temples. Great Value and a wonderful lunch was included….. Two Thumbs Up
An absolutely wonderful experience with Hareesh guiding me all day through many temples and historical sites. My first day ever in India became a day to remember with the insights, friendliness, and warmth of a guide who truly loves what he is doing. Super exciting sights, excellent lunch, and knowledge of Indian history and religion to the fullest.

We had an excellent day exploring these two amazing places with Jainath and his local guides. Both were knowledgeable and passionate about the history. There was time to examine each place and appreciate the history and culture in them. Highly recommended the day. The driver was excellent as well, getting us between sites in the busy traffic. The trip could be improved by using a larger more comfortable car for such a long day.
Five Senses is a great tour company putting focus on the local community. Our guide Jainath was very knowledgeable and friendly and we had a very good time! Not only he showed us the wonders of Kanchipuram and neighborhood town Mahabalipuram, but also got us in touch with the local people who take pride in their work and culture. We also learnt a lot about eating manners to have during a wedding (we are attending one in 2 days). Overall we got a great impression lf history, architecture and culture in only one day!! Highly recommended.
We had a great time with our guide Jainath. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a good feeling for the South Indian culture and his eye for architecture was impeccable. He even invited us for a quick coffee and breakfast!
