Great tour, our guide gave us a detailed summary during the trip of the area before reaching the monastery which was great. At the monasteries you're free to roam and experience everything as long as you're back on time. The monasteries and scenery are sensational and pictures don't do it justice. You have to experience it for yourself. Make sure to adhere to the dress code or you won't be allowed into the monasteries. The guide is great at filling the driving time to/from with stories and details of Greece. Bring enough water, and bring a sweater as the bus may be a bit too cold, depending on your temperature preference. I highly recommend the experience. There are 5 stops including the monasteries on the trip: 1. First coffee/WC break before arriving at the monasteries 2. The monasteries 3. Stop for lunch at a larger cafe 4. Last coffee/WC break before arriving back at the pickup spots Nothing this because we were unsure whether we had to buy lunch at the first stop.
Although quite a long day can highly recommend this trip to vist the astoundingly beautiful Monasteries at Meteora. Was kept updated regarding pick-up times and place . Yvonne our quide was friendly and informative of the history of the local area and Monasteries an engineering feat for sure way back in the day completely mind blowing! Our coach driver Sakis safely and expertly navigted the winding roads with ease. Toilet stops there and back at same cafe just off the highway , plenty of hot an cold food and drinks to purchase etc. Visited two Monasteries which do have steps . Couple of photo stops . Ladies need to cover shoulders, skits and dresses are fine around the knee , if trousers are worn they provide little sarong/scarfs . Men knee length shorts or trousers. Lunch stop was ok , but like others have mentioned a bit like a school canteen . The food however was tasty , but what i think was Very naughty...there were no prices advertised at all! You paid for each separate portion of food you chose for eg meat dish plus potatoes or fries or veg/ salad zatziki, dessert drinks etc and got a surprise at the end! Knocked off one star for this reason sorry!
Fascinating tour, it’s an early start but well worth it if you would like a day out seeing ancient monasteries perched on columns hundreds of feet high. You get to visit 2 monasteries that are still in use, driven almost there by coach with just a short walk to the actual buildings. Special thanks to Yvonne our coach who gave us loads of interesting info about the monasteries and the whole area, also thanks to our driver Tsakis (hope that’s spelled correctly!) who managed to get us through some tight spaces and got us parked near to where we needed to be.
Thank you very much for your wonderful review! We are delighted that you enjoyed this unique experience and the breathtaking beauty of Meteora. Your kind words mean a lot to us and are the greatest reward for our efforts.
This trip from Parga to Meteora is truly magical and was expertly guided by Yvonne. You can easily see why it is the 2nd most visited tourist place after the Acropolis. The monasteries are meticulously kept and stunning. Even though the drive there is long, it is truly stunning as you drive through the most mountainous province of Greece. Everything was very well organised and on time. The one disappointment that day was the lunch stop which is a soulless buffet restaurant where, despite serving mediocre food and rude staff, all coaches stop. Our tip: by a ricotta and spinach pie in the first cafe stop and just buy a drink to have with it there!
Thank you for your lovely review! We are delighted that you enjoyed the beauty of Meteora and the scenic journey .We also appreciate your feedback regarding the lunch stop, as it helps us continue improving our guests’ experience.
What a wonderful day out. From start to finish this was extremely well organised. I thought the day would feel very long, it didn't. The views from the coach were great. Through many tunnels, over many bridges, looking at mountains & valleys. Yvonne gave us lots of interesting information. The stop for coffee was in a good place there & back. We had our own lunch so cannot comment on the lunch stop for food (after reading previous reviews). Meteora was breathtaking. The coach took us to the entrance at both monasteries, we also had 2 photo stops, fabulous. I could've stayed at Varlaam much longer to soak it all in (+ it was the first one we went to so was just wow). The nunnery was the right amount of time. Amazing frescos in the churches . We left at 07:30 & returned at 6pm. A must do trip, thank you
Thank you very much for your wonderful review! We are delighted that you enjoyed the organization of the tour and the unforgettable experience of Meteora. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again in the future.
Really a delightful..... trip. The day started early, but our fresh guide :Yvonne, told obviously and very knowledgeable about everything we came by, it was interesting, during the trip, So the whole trip was included in the experience. Meteora was of course the largest... So amazing and overwhelming to get running and then see houses standing on top of mountains that stand vertically up to the sky. Thanks to the guide, there was no time to get bored on the otherwise long drive. Vh Orla and Inga Brogaard
Thank you very much for your kind review; we are delighted that you enjoyed the journey, Yvonne’s guiding, and the breathtaking beauty of Meteora.
Amazing trip to this incredible collection of monasteries atop stone columns. Communication very good pre pick ups , double checking locations etc. Yvonne our guide was well organised and gave a thorough commentary with historical and current facts , data and information. Be warned 3.5 hours each way with comfort breaks . Stunning scenery going through mountains, valleys, the wilderness is beautiful . Accessing the monasteries was very easy , well done Yvonne. Only suggestion I’d make is cutting comfort break on the journey home to 15 mins not 30 otherwise if your ok with the bus transfer then this is an amazing day out .
Thank you very much for your review. Your kind words are the best reward for our efforts.
Excellent trip with lovely guide Yvonne who was friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing landscape of meteora.
Thank you very much for your nice review.
Great day out to see the monasteries, and definitely worth a guided trip rather than battling the parking! Very knowledgeable guide who clearly loved what she did, and all planned to the minute.
Thank you very much for your review!
Run by 'Esiness'. Superb experience which i thoroughly recommend. Beautiful destination. Well organised with excellent communication. Only negative was that the guide got opening time of 2nd monastery wrong so we had to rush a bit. Otherwise she was very informative!
Thank you very much for your wonderful review! We are sorry about the rush at the 2nd monastery, but there was a misunderstood at that day!
