Der Name des Platzes hat sich im Laufe der Zeit geändert. == Geschichte ==Der Ort wurde unter den Namen "Plaza del Arrabal", "Plaza de la Constitución", "Plaza Real", "Plaza de la República" und heute "Plaza Mayor" bekannt. Diese Namen spiegeln Ereignisse, Geschichte und Herrschaft der Spanischen Geschichte wider. "Plaza del Arrabal" war der ursprüngliche Name der heutigen "Plaza Mayor". Die Plaza del Arrabal war bis Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts der beliebteste Marketplace. Nach der Verfassung von 1812 wurden alle wichtigen Plätze in Spanien in "Plaza de la Constitución" umbenannt. Sie führte diesen Namen auch 1820 bis 1823, 1833 bis 1835, 1840 bis 1843 und 1876 bis 1922. Als der König von Borbón 1814 wiederhergestellt wurde, wurde sie als "Plaza Real" bekannt. 1873 änderte sich der Name in "Plaza de la República". Am Ende des Spanischen Bürgerkrieges erhielt der Platz seinen heutigen Namen "Plaza Mayor".
Über 100 Jahre sind vergangen, seit der Mercado de San Miguel seine Türen als Lebensmittelgroßmarkt geöffnet hat. Heute sticht dieses historische Gebäude als einer der wichtigsten gastronomischen Märkte der Welt hervor. Es ermöglicht den Besuchern, die Essenz und die wichtigsten Aromen jeder Ecke Spaniens zu erleben. Vom feinsten iberischen Schinken über täglich frischen Fisch und Meeresfrüchten aus Galicien bis hin zu mediterranen Reisgerichten und den erlesensten Käsesorten aus Kastilien, Asturien und dem Baskenland – im Mercado de San Miguel finden Sie alle Highlights der Spanischen Küche. Verteilt auf mehr als 20 Stände, ist der gemeinsame Nenner hier ein Bekenntnis zu hochwertigen Tapas und Pub-Kost.
Diese kleine Straße ist einer der beiden charmantesten Plätze in Madrid : Conde de Miranda und Villa. Und es kann sich rühmen, einen Raum zu beherbergen, der durch die historische und künstlerische Umgebung geschützt ist, die es umgibt: An der Ecke der Plaza de la Villa befindet sich der Torre de los Lujanes (aus dem 15. Jahrhundert). Im selben Teil der Straße befinden sich auch die Royal Maritense Economic Society of Friends of the Country, die alte städtische Zeitungsbibliothek und die Kirche Corpus Christi, wo sich das Kloster Las Carboneras befindet, da die Gemeinde ein Bild der Unbefleckten Empfängnis aufbewahrt, das in einem Holzkohleofen gefunden wurde und dem verschiedene Wunder milagros zugeschrieben werden.
Es war eines der wichtigsten mittelalterlichen Zentren Madrids, da drei Straßen von ihm ausgehen, die dem ursprünglichen Grundriss der Stadt entsprechen: Codo, Cordón und Madrid. Am Stadtrand befinden sich die Hauptfassaden von drei Gebäuden von hohem historisch-künstlerischem Wert, die in verschiedenen Jahrhunderten gebaut wurden. Die älteste ist die Casa y Torre de los Lujanes (15. Jahrhundert) im gotisch-mudejarischen Stil, die sich auf der Ostseite der Plaza befindet. Hier befindet sich heute das Büro der Akademie für Moral- und Politikwissenschaften.
Der Königspalast von Madrid ist die offizielle Residenz des Königs von Spanien; die derzeitigen Könige wohnen jedoch nicht darin, sondern im Zarzuela-Palast, so dass er für Staatszeremonien und feierliche Handlungen genutzt wird. Jetzt beginnt unser Besuch wirklich. Obwohl Juvarras ursprüngliches Projekt nie verwirklicht wurde, kann sich der Königspalast von Madrid als größter bewohnter Palast Europas rühmen. Und wir sagen bewohnt, weil, obwohl die Spanische Königsfamilie nicht darin wohnt, es immer noch der Ort ist, an dem sie ihren offiziellen Wohnsitz haben. Wie wir bereits erwähnt haben, besteht das Gebäude, dessen Arbeiten bis 1764 dauerten, als Carlos III. zum ersten Mal darin lebte, aus 135.000 Quadratmetern und 3.418 Zimmern, die auch seine 870 Fenster, 240 Balkone oder die 44 Treppen hervorheben, die es hat.

- Obwohl der Eingang zum Königspalast immer unseren Kunden vorbehalten ist, kann die Zugangskontrolle manchmal aufgrund der Kapazitäts- und Sicherheitskontrollen blockiert werden, da sich der Einlass aus Gründen, die außerhalb des Einflussbereichs dieses Veranstalters liegen, um einige Minuten verzögert.

First the meeting point's address was wrong and the whole group was not informed that the Fun&Tickets company has changed the place..thanks to the hospitality of a random guy from the place nearby we were told the new address When arrived, none of the stuff even apologised... The short walk where we were supposed to learn about Madrid was just a walk to the castle without any promised interesting stories as it was said in the tour description The castle walk was unsatisfactory as well- random information was provided in an english with such strong spanish accent that it was difficult to follow Not recommeded
At first we thought we were only visiting the royal palace, but in reality, before arriving there, we had the pleasure of seeing and learning about other parts of the city that were also linked to royal history. Federico was a professional and friendly guide who explained everything to us in great detail.

At first I was disappointed we were walking “again on another tour”. I thought we were on a tour bus as my hubby had booked it but with Beatrice, soon I forgot I was walking and exploring in the August heat. I was transported into another time of Madrid and was in my element of history. She was courteous, professional and clearly spoke English. She didn’t rush us and took care to show us many key points of interest during our tour (including brief quizzes) while visiting the Royal Spanish palace. I would recommend her as a guide to anyone.
