Great tour with amazing tour guides. Explained the history very well and gave enough time to take our photos! We only had tickets to circuit 1 however, the company contacted us that they could purchase tickets to circuit 3 for us too! This allowed us to explore both the ruins and panoramic view. Organization was flawless from start to finish.
Trip advisor tour was great the organization was good But you get nervous as no one explains in the beginning what to expect But the trip itself needs a lot of clarifications If you say 6 am tour that means you will be picked up at 2:30 am from your hotel The entrance and expense of the tour is far higher but the facilities are not good Roads from Cusco to train station are broken It is better not to stay in Cusco actually stay in agua Cliente you will not deal with altitude sickness as much as in Cusco We have visited other places like Petra facilities are much better worth the cost
We started early in the morning; a van picked us up at the hotel. The driver dropped us off at the train station. From here we followed people dressed in traditional inca dress to our train car. All the while they were playing music and it was very nice. The train ride had incredible views of the mountains and the river below. Next, we waited in line for the bus to go to the top of the mountain where Machu Picchu is located. Here is the best part, we met Roy our tour guide who was assigned to just me and my wife. A private tour, we were very lucky because he answered everything we could think of. The place is magical, from the views to the buildings, to what used to be there. Roy explained how everything was built, what each building was used for and why. He showed us how the inca trail came thru and told us why they had to leave when the Spanish came. We did circuit 2 and the day was perfect for this. I think it is amazing that it was not rediscovered until 1911. I can understand why it is one of the new 7 wonders of the world and the number one reason we came to Peru.
Our guide, Miguel, was excellent! Machu Picchu is incredible, of course. Miguel did a great job of pacing the hike to include time for walking, time for resting, time for history, and plenty of time for photos. If I were only rating our experience with the Tour Guide, my rating would be five stars. Unfortunately our experience on the train was far from ideal. My husband and I were separated by an entire carriage for the panoramic train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. The panoramic train ride should have been the highlight of our journey to Machu Picchu, but instead I spent my ride sharing a 4-seat with a family of three that did not share a language with me and were clearly unhappy about sharing their space with a stranger. My husband's experience in a separate train car was similar. We were seated next to one another for the train ride back, but by then it is pitch black outside and we were exhausted and no longer experiencing excitement. At this price point, I honestly cannot believe that I would ever be separated from my travel partner. If I had known that this was even a possibility, I would have booked through a different company. Aside from the disappointment of not getting to enjoy the panoramic train, the tour was long but seeing Machu Picchu was worth it.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely appreciate your comments about our guide and the experience you had during your visit to Machu Picchu. We are very happy to know that you chose to travel with us and that we had the opportunity to be part of such a special experience. Regarding the train service to and from Machu Picchu, we sincerely regret that you were unable to travel together. We completely understand that this may have been uncomfortable and that you were expecting to enjoy the journey together. In this particular case, we would like to clarify that PeruRail is a private railway company and currently operates the only private railway service providing regular passenger transportation to Machu Picchu. Because of this, the availability and assignment of seats are subject to the railway company's system and availability. Unfortunately, on the day of your trip, all the train cars were fully booked, and therefore we were unable to arrange seats together. Even if you had booked your trip with another travel company, the situation would essentially have been the same, as travel agencies do not have control over the final seat assignments when the train is operating at full capacity. Nevertheless, as a company, we are always committed to providing the best possible experience for our clients. We constantly look for the best alternatives and do everything within our control to make every part of your journey comfortable, enjoyable, and memorable. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience you experienced during the train journey, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding. Your feedback is very important to us, as it helps us continue improving our services and finding new ways to provide a unique experience for everyone who trusts us with their journey to Machu Picchu. Thank you once again for your trust, for choosing us for your trip, and for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. It was a pleasure to be part of your Machu Picchu adventure.
The tour was amazing! Miguel was very kind and knowledgeable. He’s the best photographer. Highly recommend for solo travelers.
Very good experience, an excellent quality tour.
Tiring activity but well organized, keep in mind that the bus route has curves and some minor landslides.
Guide Miguel was super knowledgeable and amazing. Very friendly. Also took amazing photos of everyone! Good communication from start of the tour to ending of the tour. Every person was there waiting at each point for pickup.
Smooth process from pickup to drop off at hotel. It was an incredible experience.
Visiting Mahu Picchu is a great experience, however, in July is more expensive because many tourists arrive or visit Machu Picchu, I would recommend you to visit it in February because is more affordable. For instance, getting the ticket in order to arrive AGUAS CALIENTES, You can Even bargain, I might be interesting to buy tickets which is 60 dollars and 120 dollars go and return. In addition to this, sometimes, there are some offers if you buy for 2 o 3 people, they reduce the cost. For food, you can choose Alpaca steak, chicken Peruvian grilled and Peruvian wines or Pisco Sour. However, there are some restaurants where the food are cheaper and delicious, those restaurants are near the mountains. Comparing the prices, in February the food might cost 30 soles (less than 11 dollars), but the restaurants that I'm referring cost 12 soles (less than 5 dollars). Those restaurants cook different Peruvian food, not only ceviche or Lomo saltado, there many food that you taste before.
