This was an awful experience for us. I booked Circuit 2 tickets with a private guide back on 4/5/26 to visit Machu Picchu on 7/27/26 @ 8am. We received emails confirming we had tickets to Circuit 2. Then I got an email from the tour guide on 7/23/26 @ 9:09pm confirming us for Circuit 1. The guide stated that the Ministry of Culture is responsible for issuing the official tickets. When I finally received my tickets on 7/25/26 @ 8:27pm, I could see that the tickets for Machu Picchu weren't even purchase until 5/8/26 @ 7:24pm and of course Circuit 2 was sold out then. I was never notified that they changed my Circuit until 3 days before our visit, when it was too late to change anything because all tickets to all Circuits were sold out. We were also supposed to have a private guide, but our guide had 2 other people join our group. My daughter and I were very upset that we had to do Circuit 1 and did not get to walk around Circuit 2. The whole thing was very sad because we were led to believe for months that we had tickets to Circuit 2 due to the confirmation emails we had received, only to find out days before our visit that we couldn't see what we had booked and paid for months ago.
I feel absolutely scammed!!! I bought a package to enter Machu Picchu on 7/27 at 8:00 AM with a guide and transfer bus from Aguas Calientes included. It was managed by the company Haku Travel which turned out to be an absolute fraud!!! After much insistence on my part they sent me an entry ticket for 6:00 AM (the agreed time was 8:00 AM) which they just bought that same day at 3:00 AM, knowing that it was impossible for us to arrive at that time!!! I called them several times by phone and they never answered me! As a result of this we were forced to hire a program again at a higher cost and with all the problems that this entails! I request that what I paid to Haku Travel be refunded since they did not fulfill what was offered and they caused us multiple problems! Furthermore, I suggest removing them as a Tripadvisor provider so they do not continue to harm more people!
They cancelled our ticket not even s day before the Machu Picchu tour, meaning not only did we bot go, the train tickets were non-refundable at that point. Just book your tickets yourself
Haku travel fulfilled everything in Machu Picchu
This has been by far the worst experience I had during my trip to Peru. I made the reservation with them in April. They contacted me 3 days before the reserved date to tell me that the circuit they had sold me was not available, so they communicated to me as great news that they had booked me one that I did not ask for. They took between 2 and 3 hours to respond and there was never a real intention to resolve things.
People often make visiting Machu Picchu sound much more complicated than it really is. It’s actually a straightforward trip. Getting there: * Fly to Lima, then take a nonstop flight to Cusco. There are around 20 nonstop flights every day, so finding a flight is usually easy. * From Cusco (Calle Pavitos), take a local shuttle to Ollantaytambo. The ride costs about 15–20 soles and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. * From Ollantaytambo, take the train to Aguas Calientes. There are two train companies: PeruRail and Inca Rail. If you already have Machu Picchu tickets: Book your transportation and train in advance, and simply arrive in time for your scheduled entrance. If you do NOT have Machu Picchu tickets: Plan to stay at least two nights in Aguas Calientes. As soon as you get off the train, go directly to the Tourism Office. Every day, approximately 1,000 to 1,500 tickets are reserved for people purchasing them in person. That is exactly what we did. We arrived, went straight to the Tourism Office, and there was no line. We were able to buy tickets for the following day without any problems. Which circuit should you choose? If it’s your first visit, I highly recommend Circuit 2 (Classic Route). This is the route that includes the iconic panoramic viewpoints where you can take the famous postcard photos of Machu Picchu. I haven’t personally done the other circuits, but I’ve heard they’re also excellent. This is by far the simplest approach. If you don’t have advance tickets, don’t assume your trip is ruined—there is still a very good chance you’ll be able to visit Machu Picchu by purchasing your ticket in Aguas Calientes.
Manuel was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and clearly had a deep understanding of Andean culture that allowed me to have a deep and powerful understanding of Machu Picchu and its history. Couldn't have imagined doing it any other way. Manuel is very experienced and passionate as a man of the Andes himself. It was also very easy getting picked up from my hotel, and having bus transfer arranged. Gracias mi amigo! I had some communication issues with the tour company through which I booked on GetYourGuide (no issues with Manuel), but they were resolved and all was good in the end. That is the only reason for 4 and not 5 stars.
We had an amazing experience with William as our guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly and answered every question we had. The tour was well organised and he made the history of Machu Picchu really interesting. We even enjoyed pisco sours with him afterwards, which was a great way to end the day. He truly made it a William in a lifetime experience! 😄 Highly recommend.
At the last moment, if it works, you have tickets. But they cost more than double what you pay at the ticket office. I didn't know that when I bought it😭 And at the ticket office, you can buy them the night before until 10 PM, and it's very accessible; paying double is a lot of money.
We booked a package through Tripadvisor to visit Machu Picchu, circuit 2, on Monday, June 22, for more than 900 dollars, but when we arrived at the park entrance, the tickets for the tour were for circuit 1. The Haku Travel agency scammed us and to this day we have no response.
