Macaron Bakery Class in den Galeries Lafayette Paris

The activity was nice for our two granddaughters (12-14). The host was experienced, kind, a good communicator, and met the objective, even allowing the attendees to participate voluntarily once she had given the relevant instruction. A suggestion: Why not do it in a better place? Since the Galleries are so beautiful, the place for the activity is enclosed and dull.

A charming little class in the Galleries Lafayette. Lasts around 1h30/45. A little tricky to find - take escalator to 3rd floor and look for the Concierge desk, it’s right beside it. Your instructor will demonstrate how to mix ingredients the French way to make macaron meringue, you will take it in turns to pipe the the instructor’s mixture. While they cook, you make the ganache fillings (one chocolate, one pistachio) and then pipe these into pre-made shells. Beautifully boxed to take home, and an excellent recipe card is included. We got to eat the mismatched shells we piped earlier in the class. All in all, a fun little class with a lovely demonstrator - we had Joanna. Super thing to do if you have been to Paris before and want to try something different. Equally recommended if it’s your first visit to the city and want to have your cutesy ‘Emily in Paris’ moment. We had some experienced pastry chefs in our group who were thrilled to learn new techniques to fix their macaron-making issues.

The class is very informative, clear, and fun. I usually feel like I won’t remember the recipe during be course or the tips and tricks but for this class, Sophie made it simple and fun. I would definitely recommend and I intend on trying this out when I get back home.

I had a wonderful time and Joanne was a great instructor. Plenty of tips and got to take away some macarons. Well worth it.

This was a fantastic experience. The teacher Marie was fabulous. Very enthusiastic and detailed. We learned how to make the macarons and she gave us the secrets too!

We really liked this shorter macaron bakery class….it was 1.5 hours vs 3-4 hours for most of the other classes. We learned the process, the secrets to making perfect macarons, and we were able to make our own macarons. Great class!
