We were collected from our hotel by minibus, along with guests from other hotels who were all heading off to do various trips. We drove for around 45 minutes and had coffee and a restroom stop before our guide Pany took us out on the mountain bikes. We took our own helmets but these are provided by the company, as well as ample bottles of cold water and bananas or energy drinks throughout the route. Pany asked if we’d like to see the Pak Ou Caves as it was a quieter option to get a longboat across the river instead of a full trip down the Mekong from Luang Prabang. We cycled through little Laos villages and Pany showed us the local school where students were busy studying physics, maths and English and my husband was encouraged to join in at break time with their game of Sepak Takraw which is a little like volleyball but using the feet, knees and head and no hands to get the ball over the net. He even managed to score a couple of points! There were 3 or 4 steep hill climbs along the route but the TREK bikes had a huge range of gears and if you have a good level of fitness these are definitely doable. We had to get off a couple of times when defeated but mostly it was very manageable. The tour have a back up van who will come to pick you up if you decide you are tired and wish to stop. We saw cows and lots of buffalo along the way. The Pak Ou caves were well worth the visit and the backdrop of the cliff face is stunning as you approach by boat. There is a lower cave and a higher cave (this means climbing 278 steps) but the views over the river are lovely. Be prepared to get sweaty and dusty! We cycled around 10 miles in total, with stops for photos and water and cool towels and then the van collected us and the bikes and we were driven back to where we had started earlier where a wonderful lunch awaited us. There were also elephants in the gardens and you could feed them bananas and take photos. You are then driven the 45 minutes back to your hotel in Luang Prabang. It was a wonderful day and Pany was the perfect guide. I took a bit of a tumble in the garden by not noticing a large dip in the ground. I sprained my ankle but Pany took excellent care of me and made sure I was fully ok before I stood up and put any weight on it again. Luckily, no major damage! Pany also took lots of photos and little video clips throughout the trip and sent them to us by WhatsApp at the end of the trip which was brilliant. Would highly recommend this trip.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing experience! 😊 We're thrilled you had the best trip with Pany as your guide. Sounds like the mountain biking, Pak Ou Caves, and lunch with elephants were highlights. Sorry about your tumble, glad Pany took good care of you! Thanks for the kind words about the trip and Pany's care - we'll pass them on. Hope to welcome you back to Luang Prabang!"
Picked up on time/ long ride in mini van to bade camp. Breakfast by the river/ saw elephants. Bike ride 15 klms / back for lunch and home by 2:30. Need to be fairly fit but you can walk up some if the hills. If ilder couple like us (70) better to do in February.
[05:27, 06/02/2026] Latte Lao: in February. 😊 Sounds like you had a blast on the half-day cycling trip! Great to hear the logistics were on point, and the breakfast by the river with elephants was a nice touch 🐘. 15kms is a good ride, and good call on the fitness note - kudos to you and your partner (70s, nice!) for keeping active 😄. For others considering:- Fitness level: need to be fairly fit, can walk some hills - Timing: February might be better for older couples - Highlights: elephants, river, cycling, and lunch 👍 Would you recommend this tour to others your age or would you tweak anything?
good biking day. The instructor took us to see attractions that i would not be able to find. So got some good pics. It was a good day. Water was provided and the Trek bikes were in good working order

It was a very organised trip that helped us understand the Laos culture and landscape. An earlier pick up (08:10) than the advertised )08:20 -08:45) which caught us off guard when we received a chaser call. Our guide (Gok) was a real inspiration who was very knowledgeable, positive and interesting keen to answer any questions we may have. We were particularly moved by the cycle through UXO mine exploration and the knowledge of the “secret war” which prompted us to visit the centre on our return, “Gok” arranged our drop off. A fantastic trip which ended with a buffet lunch overlooking the Mekong. Brilliant!
This is a bit of a different review. We booked with Manifa Travel to do the mountain biking and kayaking whole day tour. Manifa picked us up on time and our guide Kone was very happy and informative. We set out biking and had the wonderful knowledge of Kone explaining what we were seeing on the route. Unfortunately my partner fell from his bike down a rocky slope and grazed both his knees. He was bleeding a lot and Kone immediately checked on him and administered basic first aid then he phoned for the car where two other members came and assisted us with more first aid and to take us to the local hospital where my partner received 5 stitches in his knee. The whole time Kone and the team at Manifa Travels were so supportive and caring for the both of us. They are a very professional company and even though our day did not go as planned, we are glad we booked with them. We are very thankful for how they cared for my partner.

Nice biking tour if you don’t set your expectations too high. We encountered native Laos villages and connected with locals. If you’re only interested in mountain biking and doing trails then don’t book this. Bikes are OK and the track is quite steep at some points but not as killing as some wrote (my wife managed this so it’s doable;). Provision of water and showers and great lunch after the trip.
Chai was a fantastic guide. Lovely trip. Best lunch ever. Cycling was lovely for first 2 hours. Then I got tired and they came snd picked me up!

I got this when I tried to cancel: We're sorry, an error has occurred. And then there was no way to contact TripAdvisor. I finally got in touch with the operator and told them to cancel, but they showed up anyway. They had a truck full and I told them I would reach back out to TripAdvisor.

We LOVED everything about that tour, from start to finish! It felt magical, and we liked to discover Luang Prabang by doing sports. Our guide Vone was very lovely, although not very fluent in English.

Year Xiong was an excellent tour guide! It was a fun 3hr ride. Don't expect traditional trails on this since it's 60% road and 40% dirt roads. Still worth the experience seeing the culture and making stops along the way.
