My husband and I had a great time on the bus. We enjoyed getting on and off & loved seeing and hearing about the sights of London.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you and your husband had a great time exploring London with us. The hop-on hop-off experience is a fantastic way to discover the city's iconic landmarks at your own pace, and we're glad you enjoyed both the sightseeing and the informative commentary. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you aboard again on your next visit to London! 😊 Daniel@BigBusTours
Totally unorganized. They kept kicking people off the bus to make up for time. Shut down early and forced people off the bus. Worst hop on hop off experience of any city or company I’ve been on. Badly executed
The bus was good and on time. There are a ton of different busses so pay attention so you get on the right one. My rating more so comes from the audio. There is so much history in London to learn about, it is sad the limited amount of audio there really is. When you come to a stop it just changes to music for 3 or 4 minutes. When traveling it will only tell you about a building here or there. Then dead space audio again. They really need to improve the information provided and provide a really informative and educational tour "guide" in the audio. Again, the busses were great, the audio is very limited in value.
Terrible service and zero customer support – Avoid Big Bus and Booking.com I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Big Bus London, booked through Booking.com. They failed to deliver the service promised and have refused to issue a refund. * The Issue: While using the Blue Line, we hopped off at Stop 36 (Gloucester Road). We returned to the stop at 3:45 PM and waited for over an hour. The bus never arrived. Because we were trying to reach Tower Hill before the Tower Bridge walking tour closed at 5:00 PM, we had to give up and take the subway instead. * The Customer Service Loop: I tried messaging Big Bus immediately through their app, but received no reply. When I finally reached them via email, they offered me some vouchers. I insisted for the refund and then they stopped helping and asked me and told me to contact Booking.com since I purchased the ticket through them. Booking.com was equally useless, acting only as a middleman passing messages back and forth with no actual resolution. Instead of a refund, they offered a "Discover Ticket" for other cities, which is useless to me. * On-Board Experience: The buses are outdated, and the drivers seemed highly stressed, annoyed, and unwelcoming. As overseas visitors, we spent our limited vacation time waiting on a curb instead of enjoying the city. This felt like a complete exploitation of tourists. Save your money and use public transit instead.
Kevin was awesome! Funny and knowledgeable. And was so helpful for other london tips!
Bought a 48 hour ticket with River Cruise. Didn’t use the bus the first day because we were waiting at a stop and the bus broke down. They told us it would be 45 minutes for the next bus, but that was too long. River cruise next day was nice.
Hi Dan! Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that a bus breakdown impacted the start of your experience and that the wait for the next bus didn't fit your plans. While we're pleased you enjoyed the river cruise, we understand your disappointment at not being able to make full use of your ticket. We appreciate you sharing your experience and will pass your comments on to the local team. Alexandra I. @ Big Bus Tours
We found the Big Bus a great way to get around and see the main sights of London. The commentary is in numerous languages, and it was very easy to get tickets and find the stops and routes. We included the Thames river cruise which was lovely. The buses come regularly so no need to worry about missing one. There are people all around the routes to answer questions and help. Highly recommend.
Experience. I'm being a little unfair to Big Bus London with this review. You'll understand reading this. London traffic is manic. Too many tour operators, taxis, business vans, bikes and cars make for a very very very slow journey. We brought the Essential package giving us hop-on, hop-off for all three routes, on board Wi-Fi, river cruise, walking tours valid for 48 hours. (your 48-hours starts when you hop on your first bus, press activate on your e-ticket, not when you purchase the ticket). Using the package essentially restricted you to one attraction per day. A circuit takes forever, nearly 2.5 hours well beyond the operators stated timings. Road maintenance and events taking place meant buses didn't stop at all the stops. The frustrated many travellers caught out with daily changes which were communicated very well to us. One resulted in a shouting match between the bus driver and two of the passengers. Due to traffic congestion, and the attractions we wanted to see, we didn't use the cruise or walking tours - just ran out of time. The free earbuds give you access to a running commentary in most languages. Unfortunately, Big Bus has missed the mark big time. The commentary seemed to be more about the commentary team than the historic gems hiding in plain sight. What was the horses head statue, what about that building, that religious place, etc. Admission fee. Had i known how manic the traffic was going to be, i would not have spent the 47 pounds on. Length of visit. We purchased a 48-hour ticket aiming to hop on and off many stops to get the real 'on the ground feel' of London and it's history. In the end we spent a very good portion looking at our watches wondering if we would make our next attraction critical timing. Atmosphere. No big buzz. Our last driver of our 48-hours was a piece of work. Clearly feeling the brunt of the complaining passengers wanting to get off at stops which were closed (we weren't advised) she yelled a fair bit, both at passengers and the constant stopping. One intersection took us 20-minutes to get through witnessing five light changes before we got through. Crowd size. Most buses were full especially the top deck in the unescapable heat. If you couldn't get a top-level seat, you were in the heat with no air flow. Windows are governed to only a small opening. The UK clearly isn't set up for the type of heat we experienced. Staff. All but one driver top notch. They must get sick of tourists asking the same questions. Overall, not worth the money we paid. Next time I'll use the tube and get around underground popping up exactly where I want to be.
Incredibly poor commentary as the bus went around key sights. As a Londoner taking a visiting family member I was shocked at how little facts were shared about the landmarks and streets we travelled around. Just really poor value for money. I could have done better myself!
It was a great way to see all the sites. The bus even included a recording to tell you a little about each site. Just make sure to go early since they stop running the busses around 6:00 or 6:30 p.m., I can't remember which. We didn't make it back to our original pick up location, but they did try to get us as close as possible to that spot after hours. It was much appreciated.
Hi Jaimee! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our tours as a fantastic way to explore all the sights, especially with the included pre-recorded audio! Thank you for your feedback about the schedule, and we can't wait to welcome you back on your next adventure! Alexandra I. @ Big Bus Tours
