Die historische Liwa-Oase liegt am nördlichen Rand von Rub’ Al Khali (dem leeren Viertel) – der größten ununterbrochenen Wüste der Welt. Die Oase Liwa profitiert von einem oberflächennahen Grundwasserspiegel, der seit Generationen Landwirtschaft und Viehzucht unterstützt. Dadurch entsteht ein dramatischer Kontrast in der Landschaft zwischen grünen Dattelpalmenhainen und hohen orangeroten Sanddünen. Die Liwa-Oase erstreckt sich in einem Ost-West-Bogen über mehr als 100 Kilometer und beherbergt einige der größten Sanddünen der Welt, von denen viele mehr als 150 Meter hoch sind. Reisende können mitten in der Oase ein Picknick machen.
Tel Moreeb liegt in der majestätischen Region Al Dhafra in Abu Dhabi und wird von vielen als die höchste Sanddüne der Welt angesehen. Mit einer Höhe von über 300 Metern und einer Neigung von 50 Grad ist sie ein erstklassiges Ziel für Motorsportbegeisterte.

The Liwa desert was amazing – endless dunes and really peaceful. The 4x4 dune bashing was fun, and the stops for photos and the oasis made it feel like a proper escape from the city. It’s a long day, but worth it if you want to see the real desert.
Once the dunes appeared, especially Moreeb dune that golden light, rolling sand, quiet sky...it felt like stepping into another world. Just plan for a long day, travel prepared, and let yourself slow down when you can.

The dune bashing experience was wild and thrilling! Our driver was skilled and made the whole ride feel like a rollercoaster — up and down the towering dunes with the sand spraying across the windows. I couldn’t stop laughing (and screaming a little!). It was the perfect balance of adrenaline and awe. One of the best parts of the day was stopping at the top of one of the highest dunes and just… being silent. No cars, no noise, just the wind and the sheer vastness of the desert.
