A convenient way to get around Lisbon is with the Hop-On Hop-Off buses. The buses have comfortable seats, the audio guide works well, and the routes provide good coverage of both the city center and Belém. What lowers the rating is that some departures are occasionally cancelled, which can mean the buses only run once an hour. We purchased a two-day pass and experienced this on both days. The first time, we were a little worried about being stranded, but after about an hour of waiting, the bus finally arrived. One positive feature is that you can scan the QR code at the bus stop to check which departures have been cancelled. We also contacted customer support and felt that they took our concerns seriously and provided helpful information. However, during our wait, we saw four red Hop-On Hop-Off buses pass by, which suggests they may operate more frequently. For that reason, it may be worth comparing the available operators before making your choice. You can safely skip their Modern Lisbon route, as there is not much of interest to see. Most of the worthwhile sights are already covered on the Belém route.

We waited for an hour at Vasco da Gama bus stop and no hop on hop off bus arrived. Took a cab then. Very frustrated!

I bought a voucher online, but I never received a ticket. I will now have to buy another ticket.

The concept is very nice with the guided earpieces and the pitches. The children really liked it, only the waiting times were far too long (we had to wait three times 45 more or less for the bus). This wait is far too long with small children. The buses did not run according to schedule and the website with the locations of the buses did not work either. We gave up and took the subway. In the end I did get 25 euros back to compensate. The ride with the Yellow Bus tram was very nice. Next time I won't take a Yellow Bus anymore but another provider.

Our experience with the Red Bus hop on hop off service in Lisbon was very disappointing. The buses were consistently late, overcrowded, and involved long waiting times at multiple stops. The most frustrating incident occurred when we were standing at the bus door with valid tickets in hand, and the driver closed the door and drove off after mentioning to a coworker that she was already running late. We were then told another bus was “just around the corner,” but waited another 35 minutes. Unfortunately, the service felt unreliable and poorly managed, which took away from our sightseeing experience in Lisbon.

It was a wonderful experience.It was nice seeing two different routes.The yellow bus boat ride was epic. The only fault I could find is that the audo guide did not tell you where to get off for the boat ride.

Based on previous reviews, we initially chose Yellow Bus. Unfortunately, that turned out differently for us. Our experience with Yellow Bus was unfortunately disappointing. At several times we had to wait a long time, while another operator had already visited twice in the same time. In addition, there was no stop, despite the stop button being pressed in time. On the second day, during the drive towards Belém, several stops were also skipped. It seemed as if the driver was following his own route, despite fellow passengers calling him on it. All in all, we did not find this a pleasant experience and therefore we cannot recommend this service.

There are no people to talk to when the bus doesn’t show. We waited for more than an hour and no bus because it was a holiday in Lisbon. We booked with another tour and saw some yellow buses in another area so they were doing some stops. I tried emailing and no response. Only book with them if you are able to be very flexible.
