Guide not enthusiastic. The birds at the feeders were interesting. The rest was like walking in someone’s backyard. Not worth the cost.

This tour was amazing! We saw lots of animals and had an amazing guide. The walk was easy. We did not have small kids but I would recommend for those with small children.

This tour was a lot of fun! Our guide Melvin was very knowledgeable and helped us take pictures using the telescope. We saw a number of animals and insects along the way, and also walked through the butterfly garden. The walk through the trails was pretty level and easy for our group which ranged in ages, from 10 years old to 76 years old. Remember to use bug spray before going on the trails (we didn’t have any issue, but we’re advised to do so just to be safe).

Had a great guide with Melvin including exciting stories and facts about flora, fauna and the history of the reserve. Despite rain many animals seen and at the end there were delicious annanas and bananas as a snack. Can highly recommend this reserve.

Excellent tour. Paz was our tour guide and he was excellent. Very patient and knowledgeable. He found many birds and animals that we would never have seen without a guide. We saw four sloths today including a baby. Pretty amazing. The birds were beautiful as well and there were many varieties as well as butterflies and frogs, including the tiny red dart poisonous frog. Don’t do this tour without a guide. You will miss too much.

I think there are different profiles of wildlife observation centers in La Fortuna. The Danaus Ecocenter stands out far above the others in terms of scientific dissemination and the possibility of talking with indigenous people who have a long history that is not talked about in many places. While the Ecocentro shines in this regard, other sites handle imprecise information and their guides do not have this level of training. The bird feeder and pond provide unique opportunities for nature photography. My suggestion would be to visit several places, but start with this one. You will enjoy it and you will have more knowledge when you visit the other places.

Of course, I loved seeing the sloth, as well as the toucan peeking out of its nest. Wish I had seen a bit more of each, but it was a natural site, not a refuge Melvin was a charming guide and good spotter, his English was good also. The Maleuka history was nice to hear about and educational regarding Costa Rica’s overall portions of indigenous people as well as nature.

This was our first tour. We were the only ones on the tour with our guide. Before we even got the Butterfly garden our guide spotted a red poison dart frog, a wood thrush, a Mot Mot AND a Mama Sloth with a baby!!! We got some amazing pics with our guide's scope. I could see everything with my binoculars, but the scope of the guide was amazing. Then we got to the Butterfly Garden which was lovely. Got great pics. Our guide was super knowledgeable about all the species we were seeing and we definitely got a good education while on the tour. I felt so lucky we got to see so much on our first tour!

This is a lovely haven of nature and wildlife where you can spend a few hours. I did an excellent guided tour and was shown many new birds, lizards and even a caiman! It was very quiet and peaceful with hardly anyone around and a wonderful, very active bird feeder with a huge variety of birds. A great way half-day destination while in Arenal.
