Wenn wir in die Innenstadt fahren, laufen wir zu unserem zweiten Halt des Tages. Dies ist 'Kyrenia Castle'. Die Burg wurde von den Byzantinern gebaut und viele Ergänzungen wurden von Lusignans, Venezianern, Osmanen und Engländern vorgenommen. In der Burg befindet sich ein Schiffswrackmuseum, in dem Amphoren, Mandeln, Samen und das Schiffswrack ausgestellt sind. Das Schiffswrack stammt aus dem Jahr 300 v. Chr.
Es wurde während der venezianischen Zeit als Hafen gebaut. Ein Kettenturm stammt aus der gleichen Zeit. Der Hafen wurde in U-Form gebaut. Das Zollamt wurde während der Kolonialzeit gebaut. Heutzutage wird der Hafen als Yachthafen für die täglichen Bootstouren genutzt. Es gibt auch viele Cafés, in denen man Alkohol oder Erfrischungsgetränke trinken kann
Dies ist ein Militärfriedhof, der aus der osmanischen Zeit des 16. Jahrhunderts stammt. Das Moseleum in der Mitte soll einem der Kommandanten der osmanischen Garnison gehören.
Die Stadt war während der Lusignan-Zeit von Mauern umgeben. Dieser Turm ist der, der aus diesen Jahren übrig geblieben ist.
Der alte Gemeindemarkt wurde 1887 von den Briten als Rathaus gebaut. Später war der Gemeindemarkt bis vor kurzem das Zentrum für frisches Obst und Gemüse. Das 'Bandabuliya' wurde später restauriert und war traditioneller Basar, Café, Büro und Veranstaltungsort.
Das Kloster wurde von Lusignanern erbaut. Es ist eines der schönsten Klöster, die im Mittelalter im Nahen Osten erbaut wurden. Es hat eine gotische Struktur. Es war bis 16AD in Gebrauch.

The whole trip to Kyrenia was an incredible experience! Our tour guide, Sirin, was very kind, competent, and truly passionate. We learned so much from her about Cyprus's history, which made the sightseeing even more special. The organization was perfect and stress-free. Sirin picked us up in Nicosia, crossed the border with us, and drove us around to show us the most beautiful spots in Kyrenia by car. After the tour, she dropped us back in Nicosia safely. If you are looking for the best trip in Cyprus with a comfortable, private atmosphere, you will definitely have it with her. Highly recommended! :)

Kyrenia castle in the old marina is a must to see. The shipwreck museum in the castle dates back to 300 BC - the oldest in the world. Bellapais Monastery was our second stop of the day. Located on the Kyrenia Mountain. Typical gothic style architecture. I did this tour with Sirin. She was flexible with the start time and I enjoyed the local coffee when we enjoyed outside the monastery. If you are looking for a half day tour I highly recommend this one.

Kyrenia was simply beautiful, and what made it even more special was how naturally Şirin shared her love for the place. She has this wonderful way of weaving stories into every stop, without ever overwhelming you. It felt like walking through the past with someone who not only knows the history, but genuinely enjoys sharing it. The atmosphere at the harbor, the view from Bellapais Abbey, the castle. Everything was elevated by her presence and attention to detail.

Anyone visiting Cyprus is bound to tour Girne Castle and the Bellapais Monastery. We were very pleased with this trip. Recommended for everyone.
