We had a wonderful day with our amazing guide, Jimmy, and the most wonderful and skilled driver, who made manoeuvring through Kyoto’s small streets look easy. Navigating the crowds can be overwhelming, but Jimmy was a master of logistics, leading us through all of the hidden paths and directing us to the best photo spots. The highlight of our day was a truly special moment he arranged: ringing the temple bell at Kinkaku-ji Temple. For just 200 yen, we got to experience a beautiful local tradition that we never would have known was accessible to us without his guidance. He even made sure we didn’t miss out when I’d left my wallet in the car! From finding the perfect lunch spot to capturing incredible photos and recommending the perfect place to purchase matcha, Jimmy took all the stress out of the day and went above and beyond. We saw more in one day than we ever could have alone, and it never felt rushed. Jimmy provided a seamless, meaningful, and authentic Japanese experience, sprinkled with lots of banter and laughter. My friends and I had a very good experience with our tour guide Meri! She was very friendly and taught us a lot about Japanese culture.
