Kyoto Samurai Experience

Beschreibung

Terrific experience! We had an absolute blast and learned so much about the history, traditions, and techniques of the samurai. The experience was engaging, informative, and incredibly well done, and the instructor’s English was excellent, making everything easy to understand. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kyoto!
This was a wonderful experience and completely lived up to our expectations and beyond. My son had especially been excited (aged 16). It was so well run, our small group had plenty of time and never felt rushed. Learning the history and then training and getting to strike with the sword was amazing. Highly recommend
What a great experience! I was concerned this would be "gimmicky" when I first booked it, but I could not be happier to be proven wrong. Our teacher was fantastic, a true expert at what he does. He was both patient and funny when guiding us through our sword practice. The docents leading the sword appreciation and guided meditation were also incredibly knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel very well-rounded. The staff also went above and beyond to try and alleviate the strain of the brutally-hot Kyoto summer day. They provided plenty of water and salt candies, as well as hand fans to help keep cool for the portions of the experience that were outdoors. This experience is also a quick walk from Nijo castle, so it fits well into your itinerary. Thanks for a great experience!
Really excellent experience. I thought it would be lame but went with my son. It wasn’t lame. It was respectful and professional and well put together. Had some historic swords. The photographer was really incredible. Photos captured the sword mid air with the bits flying. Magazine quality souvenir. (Not the one I attached)
What an amazing experience! The staff was very friendly and polite, you get a history lesson, a zen lesson, you get to hold a 650 year old sword and you get to meet a modern time samurai! He had an incredible presence and really encourages everyone to do a good job during the actual cutting. We loved every second of this tour. I would love to do it again.
Really fun and informative experience and a must do in kyoto! Went with my partner on our honeymoon and we both had an amazing time.
This was an amazing and very educational experience. Although the activity is designed mainly for tourists, it was conducted professionally and with genuine respect for Japanese history, tradition, and samurai culture. The team provided an interesting historical and cultural background, using clear and simple English that was easy to understand. We also received basic but useful instruction on how to hold the sword, maintain the correct posture, and perform the cutting movements properly. Everything was explained in a professional, practical, and approachable way. A special compliment goes to the wonderful team. They combined professionalism with a great sense of humor, which created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and helped every participant feel comfortable and involved. A memorable experience and highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto.
Best experience in Kyoto. Fantastic guides. Lovely atmosphere. Perfect family event.
Thank you for joining us with your family!
You get a nice introduction to Samurai culture and get to handle and see real antique Katana and Samurai Armour. You get a nice demonstration of the cutting of tatami mats and a Shakuhachi performance by two japanese men, the rest of the staff are foreigners that translate and help you put on the traditional japanese outfit. Unfortunately you only cut some foam blocks, which makes the cutting very easy and takes no effort at all and is good if you come with kids. I was hoping to cut at least one real tatami mat, so this was disappointing, but overall it was still a fun experience.
Thank you for coming to our experience! Tatami mats definitely have a more iconic feel to the training as you advance in the martial art. We chose foam blocks because they allow beginners to focus on accuracy as well as the correct technique in a more safe environment! Thank you very much for leaving a kind review!
This was an amazing experience! Really enjoyed the one on one interaction
Thank you very much!
