Kyoto National Treasure Temple Tour & Japanisches Bogenschießen

Beschreibung

Got some rain that day but honestly, it didn't matter at all. The temple tour is indoors (the rain actually gave it this crazy good, moody vibe!), and the archery setup is totally covered. Such a solid experience. It kicks off with you checking out these amazing, centuries-old statues in the temple. Then you hit the dojo. The master just gets you totally locked in, just you, the moment, and the target. Don't skip this.
Thank you for sharing such a lively and thoughtful review. We are so glad to hear that the rain did not take away from the experience and even added a special, atmospheric feeling to the temple visit. The indoor temple tour and covered archery area allow guests to enjoy the experience comfortably in different weather conditions, so we are happy that this worked well for you. It is wonderful to know that the centuries-old statues, the dojo, and the focused guidance of the master all came together to create a memorable experience. We truly appreciate your recommendation and your vivid description of the day.
A small kyudo practice hall located beside a historic temple. The setting is peaceful, and the facilities are well equipped, with beginner-friendly targets as well as the standard 28-meter targets for experienced kyudo practitioners. The instructor and assistants are kind, patient, and supportive. Highly recommended!
Thank you for your generous review and recommendation. We are pleased that you noticed both the peaceful setting beside the historic temple and the variety of facilities available in the practice hall. We hope to make the experience approachable for first-time visitors while still offering a meaningful challenge for those with previous kyudo experience. It is also very encouraging to hear that the instructor and assistants helped create a kind and supportive atmosphere. We appreciate you taking the time to share your impressions.
This experience beautifully combines two things I didn't expect to find together. The tour includes a visit to the temple, where the nationally designated Buddhist statue and the main hall stand with a quiet, commanding presence — simply breathtaking. Then, stepping into the world of kyudo, I was equally struck by the instructor. His poise, precision, and depth of knowledge were remarkable. You can feel the years of dedicated practice in every movement she makes. A truly rare experience that nourishes both the eyes and the spirit.
We sincerely appreciate your beautiful and thoughtful review. It is a pleasure to hear that the temple visit and the kyudo practice felt so deeply connected for you. The quiet presence of the main hall and the nationally designated Buddhist statue is something we treasure, and we are glad that their atmosphere left such a strong impression. We are also grateful for your kind words about the instructor. Kyudo is built through many years of steady practice, and it means a great deal that you could sense that dedication through the movements and guidance. Thank you for describing the experience in such a meaningful way. We are honored that it became a moment that nourished both the eyes and the spirit.
As a complete beginner, I really appreciated that they start you off with a larger target that's much easier to hit — the moment the arrow actually landed, I felt an incredible rush of satisfaction! Once you get the hang of it, you even get to try the official 28-meter kyudo range, which is a whole different challenge. I'll be honest — I missed most of my shots there, but that just made me want to keep going. I only wish the session were longer. There's something deeply addictive about this sport, and I could have easily spent the whole day there.
Thank you for such a vivid and enjoyable review. We are delighted that your first shot experience gave you that exciting feeling of satisfaction. Starting with a larger target helps beginners feel the movement of kyudo more naturally, so it is wonderful to hear that it made the experience rewarding for you. The 28-meter range is indeed a very different challenge, even for many regular practitioners. Missing the target is also part of kyudo, and we are happy that it made you want to continue rather than give up. Your words capture the quiet but addictive appeal of this practice beautifully. We are very glad you enjoyed your time with us.
I really enjoyed my first traditional Japanese archery experience. The instructors were patient and explained everything clearly, so even beginners could participate with confidence. The experience takes place at Daihōon-ji Temple, a historic temple with significant cultural value, which made the visit even more meaningful.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are happy to know that your first time trying traditional Japanese archery was enjoyable and that the guidance helped you feel confident as a beginner. Creating a calm and supportive environment is something we value very much. It is also wonderful to hear that the setting of Daihōon-ji Temple made the visit feel more meaningful. We feel fortunate to practice kyudo in such a historic place, and we are glad you could experience that atmosphere as part of your time with us.
The staff gave clear instructions, making it easy for beginners to enjoy the experience. Besides the archery experience, the venue, Daihōon-ji Temple, is also a historic temple with great cultural significance, which made the visit even more special. I highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in Japanese culture.
We are very grateful for your kind recommendation. It is lovely to hear that the instructions were clear and that you could enjoy the experience comfortably as a beginner. Kyudo can seem unfamiliar at first, so we always hope to make the first steps approachable while still sharing its traditional spirit. We are also pleased that Daihōon-ji Temple added something meaningful to your visit. Its history and quiet atmosphere are an important part of the experience, and we are glad you could enjoy both the archery and the cultural setting. Thank you for sharing your impressions with us.
Kyudo is genuinely difficult — but that's exactly what makes it so rewarding and fun. I came with a lot of questions about Japanese culture, and the instructor's students were incredibly kind and patient in explaining everything in detail. I was truly grateful for their warmth. What made the experience even more special was that other students were practicing their regular training at the same time — so we got to witness real kyudo being performed, not a simplified version for tourists. It felt authentic and inspiring. A must for anyone who wants to connect with Japanese tradition on a deeper level.
We truly appreciate your thoughtful words. Kyudo can certainly be challenging at first, so we are very glad that you found that difficulty to be part of what made the experience rewarding and enjoyable. It also means a great deal to hear that our students were able to share their knowledge of Japanese culture with warmth and patience. We are especially happy that you could observe regular kyudo practice during your visit. That everyday training is an important part of the atmosphere we hope to preserve, and we are grateful that you felt its authenticity. Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to describe the experience so deeply.
One of the most memorable cultural experiences I had in Kyoto. The temple grounds were beautiful and peaceful, creating a unique atmosphere for experiencing Kyudo. The instruction was clear and beginner-friendly, and I learned much more than just how to shoot an arrow. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience both traditional Japanese archery and the spirit of Japanese culture. Highly recommended.
Thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful review. We are truly happy to hear that this became one of your most memorable cultural experiences in Kyoto. The peaceful temple grounds and the atmosphere of the dojo are an important part of what we hope to share through kyudo. We are also glad that the instruction felt clear and beginner-friendly, and that you were able to experience not only the technique of shooting an arrow, but also the spirit behind traditional Japanese archery. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for your generous recommendation. It is very encouraging for us.
This kyudo experience exceeded all my expectations. No equipment needed — everything was prepared for us, making it incredibly easy to just walk in and enjoy. The instructor broke down the art of kyudo step by step in a way that was genuinely easy to follow, even with zero prior knowledge. But what truly set this experience apart was the magnificent Buddha statue at the venue. It was awe-inspiring and gave the whole session a deeply serene and authentic atmosphere. A perfect blend of cultural immersion and hands-on activity. I can’t recommend it enough!
Thank you very much for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear that the kyudo experience exceeded your expectations and that you found the lesson easy to follow, even as a beginner. We are also very happy that the Buddha statue and the atmosphere of the venue made the experience feel serene and authentic. It means a lot to us that you enjoyed both the cultural side and the hands-on practice of kyudo. Your kind words are truly encouraging for us, and we sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
Visited this Kyudo dojo yesterday. The atmosphere is one of absolute calm, perfect for a total disconnection through this active meditation. The price is very fair as it also includes a guided tour of the Daihoon-ji, the oldest building in Kyoto. The collection of statues inside is impressive, a well-kept and unsuspected secret. Very authentic and enriching.
Thank you very much for your thoughtful review! We are truly happy to hear that you enjoyed the calm atmosphere of the dojo and experienced kyudo as a form of active meditation. We are also glad that the guided visit to Daihōon-ji and its impressive Buddhist statues added depth to your experience. Daihōon-ji is indeed a very special and lesser-known treasure in Kyoto, and it means a lot to us that you found the visit authentic and enriching. Thank you again for joining us. We hope to welcome you back someday!
