Great evening with a wonderful group of people. Sora was a fantastic guide - knowledgeable, enthusiastic and timed each stop of the trip perfectly. There was so much food! Sora provided interesting background explanations to each dish/restaurant etc as well as his local recommendations. Would recommend!

This was one of the highlights of my time in Kyoto, and my only real regret is that I did it on my last night. There were eight of us and I was the only solo traveler. I'm not usually someone who thrives in group tours, but Sora made it very easy to get involved. He asked where we were from, what we'd been doing, what kinds of tours we liked, and those questions felt like the beginning of an actual conversation rather than tour-guide icebreakers. From there, the conversation went in all sorts of directions, including some decidedly less-normal topics. He was genuinely interesting to talk to and clearly knew his stuff without making it feel like a lecture. By the end, it felt less like I was on a tour and more like someone who actually knows Kyoto was showing me around. We started with Nishiki Market, where we ate things like eel tempura and soy milk donuts, then hit three very different restaurants. A quiet sake-pairing place with small bites, four different sakes and Kobe beef. A packed, fish-focused izakaya. Then a chicken and vegetable farm-to-table restaurant with traditional seating. There was a *lot* of food. I was basically stuffing my face the entire night. I hope Sora didn't starve because of me. The bonito and karaage were standouts, but I also got to try things like fried fish skin and stingray. I already knew quite a bit about Japanese food before this trip and cook some Japanese dishes at home, and by this point I was also two weeks into eating my way around Japan. So I wasn't coming to this tour needing the basics or looking for novelty just for the sake of it. What impressed me was how much Sora still had to teach me. He knew the food, knew the places, and had interesting context for what we were eating that went well beyond a memorized tour script. The funny thing is that Kyoto hadn't really been my vibe before this. I liked parts of it, but I hadn't really connected with the city. Food turned out to be my way in. By the end of the night, I was already thinking about what I'd come back to explore next time. My only complaint is that I did this on my last night. Sora gave us recommendations for places in Kyoto and Osaka that I now won't have time to try. If you're considering the tour, do it early in your stay. You'll get a great night of food, and you'll have time to actually go chase down the recommendations afterward.

This was a great food tour, with plenty of variety and interesting information. Chika was an excellent guide and the experience felt like great value across three restaurants and part of the market.

Leandra was an absolutely wonderful guide, highly recommend this tour! Visited several izakayas where we ate and drank a ton! Loved trying all the different foods that I would not have tried on my own and especially loved the sake tasting!!! Thank you Leandra!

We went on a wonderful food journey through Kyoto with Sora. By the way, he was amazing, his approach was just perfect. A good balance between getting to know you and also giving you the best advice and explanation about what you’re eating and how to enjoy it the best. It’s a tasty adventure I recommend anyone to try, the rest of you’re trip to Japan will be get even better after this. And I do not exaggerate my review, see for yourself ;)

Great tour with a lot of fun and interesting food. Also was a very good tour of Kyoto itself, I felt like we learned a lot. Our tour guide, Sora, was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. Highly recommend.
