Honestly-one of the best food tours we have ever been on-and we have been on quite a lot of them. Serena was an excellent guide/host and the stops were so generous with their time and food. We got a wonderful feel for the expanding food scene in Killarney-not only from the stops on the tour-but also from Serena’s native knowledge of Kilkenny restaurants and music scene. Would highly recommend this tour!
A great “foodie tour” and nice way to ease into the gastronomy of Killarney. Serena, our host and guide, was very knowledgeable and familiar with the establishments we visited, and was very engaging and fun. A good value for the money and a great choice for anyone. I’d highly recommend this delightfully fun tour.
Hi Edward, thank you so much for your lovely words. Serena had a wonderful time with you both and she loved the food chats with you. Thank you for booking with us and enjoy the rest of your holiday. Karen
Absolutely delicious food tour - included a bigger variety of foods than you would expect to find in Ireland. We bookmarked several spots to revisit. We did several food tours and this was, by far, the most filling of them all. A lot of fun!
This was an amazing tour. I recommend it to anyone going to Killarney. We had a lot of great food and met some really nice people.
When planning a destination wedding, there is no better way to bring people together than an EPIC food tour. Since the first time we visited Ireland from New Jersey, we fell in love with the land and the people. So there was nowhere else we thought could embody the festive and joyous nature of our wedding celebration. The challenge was to envelope our guests in this magical land in the two days leading up to our fairytale wedding at Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare. Karen to the rescue! My husband and I found Kenmare Foodie on instagram where she was showcasing a one of a kind tour she had recently done of the pig, cow and mussel farmers on the Beara Peninsula. Our incredible wedding planner MartinaO coordinated with Karen to design a tour for our 35 guests. Karen’s enthusiasm for local and sustainably sourced food is infectious. Throughout the 6 hour tour, she took our wedding guests on an exciting journey through the heart of the coastal countryside. We started with sausage rolls and ribs at a local restaurant, followed by cupcakes and coffee at a local shop on the bay, to hand-feeding cows raised by a friendly police officer, and ending with crab, mussels and burgers on the pier. We even surprised guests with Irish dancers while they ate. Memories to last a lifetime! And hands-down the best ribs I’ve ever eaten. Karen’s tours aren’t just about finding the good eats, they highlight the incredible personal stories behind the plethora of delicious offerings Ireland has to offer. By providing guests a peek behind the kitchen door, we were able to gain a deep appreciation for what makes Ireland, Ireland - the passion and values of the Irish people rooted in their land and history. Karen’s passion and enthusiasm made the tour the highlight of the trip for many of our guests. It was the best compliment to our wedding. We recommend her tours to anyone planning a trip to the area who not only wants an insider’s guide of where to eat in Kenmare, but to those seeking an immersive and personal experience in Ireland. Karen and her Kenmare Foodie Tours are a true hidden gem! Warm Regards, Lauren and Andy
Our family of six did this amd had a really great time. Not knowing what to expect it exceeded our expecations. After doing so many traditional tours during our time in Ireland this was a great change and awesome way to experience the town. Serena was engaging, fun and did a great job. Would definitely recommend.
Hi Jeffrey, thank you so much for such a lovely review and I am delighted you enjoyed the tour as much as Serena enjoyed her time with you.
Karen did an excellent job - the locations were varied and the food and drink were awesome! We visited two restaurants, helped make croissants and tasted wine!
Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed your time in Kenmare and the Food Tour.
We had a fantastic experience on the Kenmare Food Tour hosted by Karen Coakley. It included six stops at artisanal food and beverage makers and purveyors in the lovely town of Kenmare -- a coffee roastery and shop, the most darling produce, meat and cheese store, a French bakery, a chocolate store, a brewery, and a wine shop. At every stop, the proprietors spoke with us and told us about their products and their origin story and gave us plenty of delicious samples to eat or drink. They were all so passionate about their work and loved telling us about why they do what they do. Also, we definitely didn't need lunch afterward! We even went into the Maison Gourmet bakery itself and -- after learning how croissants are made and all about the ingredients -- had the opportunity to roll our own. Karen knew everyone in the town and told us bits of history and introduced us to folks as we walked around. She was so warm and made us all feel at home. Our group included 10 folks from all over Ireland -- we're "from the States" as they say here -- and everyone was just as friendly and pleasant as could be. We enjoyed every minute! I've been on food tours that are so commercialized and crowded; they felt antiseptic and touristy. This tour is the complete opposite. She's the only food tour in town and does just one a week, and it felt very personal. I would recommend this to anyone even if you don't consider yourself a big foodie. It is so worth the cost -- you'll be glad you did!
This is such a gogeous review! Thank you and I am so glad you enjoyed it as much as I do when I'm doing them. Karen
We took the Kenmare Food Tour with Karen and Serena, they were outstanding. Karen's knowledge of the local stores and obvious friendship and respect with all the merchants was apparent and added to the experience. My family got to experience Fresh Local foods that were sourced in a sustainable, humane manner that gave you an appreciation for the Effort the merchants make. This was a highlight of my families trip to Ireland and we can not say enough nice things about Karen. Karen made everyone feel comfortable and welcome like she was showing her favorite places to her friends. My whole fame enjoyed ages 18-79, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Thank you so much for that lovely feedback and I am thrilled it was a highligh of your trip. Karen
