Trying new foods is the best part, Having a small group makes it fun, guides personal experiences makes it intetesting
We were a group of five and joined by two parties of two. We had lots of fun chatting and eating our way through Como. All the food was delicious and we never would have found these places on our own. It truly was a delightful adventure for all our party. Grazie mille!
Not great. Few tastings, only one tasting of wine, we didn’t get any pastries or cakes like the pics in the advertisement, guide barely spoke, would answer questions if we asked but didn’t give info about the area unless specifically asked. Not worth the money or the time quite frankly
I have reviewed this tour with the link Viator sent, but I cannot find it on tripadvisor to link to my accout?! My only pre booked event, a 3.5 hour walking and food tour of Como. I chose this tour for two reasons really. Firstly I’m a self diagnosed foodie, and two I wanted to get the most out of my day in Como (and how better than with a local guide!) Starting my tour at the Cathedral we were a small group of just me and a couple from Florida. Our guide lead us first to a wine shop called Bottiglieria Da Gigi, we sat at a table in the shop and were served a glass of wine and accompaniment bread and meats. I had red wine, not realy my thing, the others had white and rose and they siad afterwards that I might have enjoyed the white. I’ve only had wine once before and its not my thing, but then as now its only a small part of the day. The bread and meats were nice. We then went to a pizzaria called Rom’antica Como for a taste of two types of pizza, chosen for us by our guide. As far as I could tell one was tomato sauce, a few big chunks of fresh tomatoes and chili flakes, the other was also tomato sauce, it was completely covered in piles of small cubed tomatoes and anchovies. I’m not a big fan of tomatoes, but the first pizza was delicious! The second I can’t lie was not for me, too many tomatoes and my first (and last) taste of anchovy. Its a no from me. We then walked a little out of the main city to a restaurant called Osteria Dal Pain, where we got a salad and bread starter, then a plate of some form of ham (forgive my ignorance of its name, I can’t say it was enjoyable) some ravioli in cheese (even our guide, who yummed up a plate of it, couldn’t say for sure what was in it, except that it wasn’t meat, but it was tasty) and last were balls of polenta, guessing deep fried, with a cheese core, never had polenta before but this was delicious! More walking brought us to Gellateria Ronchi (I love gelato) We were allowed to get a cone or cup (cup for me) and two scoops of any flavour. They didn’t have my go to pistachio flavour so I had peach and raspberry. We then walked a little way to some seating. The gelato was very nice, the raspberry was sharp so it muffled the peach, but I got more peach when the raspberry was gone. For out last stop, we went to Caffé Maya for a nice coffee, espresso, delicious. We then went our separate ways (inot quite 3.5 hours so it was about an hour before the ferry back to Bellagio so I had a walk along the waterside and I found a gellateria to sate my pistachio hunger 😄) It was a good day out
I booked this tour for two reasons really. I’m a self diagnosed foodie, and I wanted to get the most out of my day in Como (and how better than with a local guide!) I acually reached Como early, so having a little explore I found an amazing bakery and got a little treat (because of the ferry time I had to skip breakfast at the hotel.) Starting at the Cathedral we were a small group of just me amd a couple from Florida. Our guide Catria (apologies if thats wrong, I didn’t see it anywhere in writing) lead us first to a wine shop called Bottiglieria Da Gigi, we sat at a table in the shop and were served a glass of wine and accompaniment meats. Trust me its well worth it!
Janis was an amazing guide; knowledgeable and engaging. She was extremely accommodating and fun, and took us to the best hidden gems in the Como city center. We were sorry to see it end. Great experience!
We had a great time! We loved walking around Como and trying all the good local spots. There are lots of great foods to enjoy on this tour and we highly recommend it to others.
Hello Carol_T, What a beautiful evening in Lake Como. We will have to join the food tour next time! Thank you for sharing your magical moment with us, and we wish you the best luck on your next adventure!
Our guide was lovely and made everyone feel welcome If there was any thing to add, we would have liked a bit more information about Como itself, but it was very enjoyable
Plenty of food so don't eat before you go. Alice pointed out highlights as we went and the food was excellent.
