This cooking workshop in Samarkand was such a fun and unique experience. It felt very authentic from start to finish. We began by visiting a local store and even stopped by a butcher to pick up fresh ingredients, which added a really nice, real-life element to the experience. After that, we spent about three hours cooking together. One of the most interesting parts was learning about the differences between Samarkand plov and other regional versions. It gave us a deeper appreciation for the dish and its cultural significance. The class took place in a local home, which made it feel very welcoming and genuine. It wasn’t just about cooking, it was about experiencing everyday life and traditions. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for something more hands-on and personal than a standard tour.

A real highlight of my two weeks in Uzbekistan. The experience was everything I would have liked it to be - authentic, informative, intimate and something I would never have experienced on my own. Led by our friendly, enthusiastic guide Navro’z and his wonderful family, we were able to get a real taste of Uzbek village life as we made some insightful stops on the way to the family home where we were warmly welcomed with tea and snacks before starting the cooking. Everything was done at the perfect pace. Nothing felt too rushed or too long. Navro’z was engaging from the moment I made the booking and throughout the day from start to finish. The food we enjoyed at the end was outstanding. On a trip full of good food, this was undoubtedly amongst the best. Thank you to Navro’z, his family and the friends I made in the group for creating a memorable experience in Uzbekistan

​We had an absolutely perfect day yesterday with Navruz and his family and we sincerely recommend this experience ! On the way to his home, Navruz shared many local anecdotes and stories that gave us a real feel for the neighborhood and its history. ​Before the cooking started, we went grocery shopping together at the local markets. Then Navruz welcomed us into his family home with open arms for the cooking class and we prepared together the local pilaf with beef, and some traditional dumplings with spinach. ​If you are looking for an authentic, warm, and delicious way to discover the local culture, this is it! We had a wonderful day with Goli and her family! She picked us from our hotel and brought us to her local market where we were able to try new things. Cooking was a fun and slow experience. I wish we could’ve participated even more e.g. collecting firewood or rolling the dough.

We had a great time. The experience was exceptional and atmosphere was very nice. One of the best ways to get to know the culture is through the local cuisine.

We had a lovely day with the family and enjoyed our day so much. We learned a lot about Uzbekistan, cooking and the paper and oil production. Thank you for the wonderful day

Overall, the experience was wonderful. Navuq and his family were incredibly warm and hospitable throughout the session. He took us to the local market to source fresh ingredients for pilov, manti, and dolma, and we got to participate in the entire cooking process while learning about Uzbek culture and traditions. The food turned out delicious — honestly, the best pilov and manti I had during my trip to Uzbekistan! One area for improvement would be better hygiene and sanitation facilities.

We had a good day with Narboz, picked us up from the hotel, took a tour of the marketplace. Narboz answered all our requests for a vegetarian meal and we had a great time at home!

I spent a wonderful day with Gulrux making plov at her home. She is a great teacher and showed me step-by-step how to make this complex dish. We were joined by other members of her family, which made the day extra special. The plov was delicious. Gulrux’ English is very good and we had interesting conversations. I highly recommend this tour.
