Der zentrale Platz von Spianada ist das bedeutendste Denkmal der Stadt. Der Name leitet sich vom venezianischen Wort für "offene flache Fläche" ab und es wird gesagt, dass es der größte Platz auf dem Balkan ist. Liston, das Teil des Platzes ist, beherbergt einige der besten Cafés und Restaurants auf Korfu. Die Franzosen waren diejenigen, die die Spianada in einen öffentlichen Platz verwandelten. Vor dem neunzehnten Jahrhundert war es ein großes leeres Grundstück, das zu Verteidigungszwecken genutzt wurde. Cricket-Spiele werden auf der Esplanade gespielt, dem einzigen Ort in Griechenland, an dem der Sport gespielt wird.
Der Palast von Saint Michael und Saint George befindet sich im nördlichen Teil des historischen Zentrums der Stadt Korfu. Es ist das größte und bedeutendste Gebäude der englischen Herrschaft, das 1814 begann und 1864 endete, als die Ionischen Inseln mit dem Rest Griechenlands wiedervereinigt wurden. Sie wurden auf Wunsch des britischen Lord High Commissioner, Sir Thomas Maitland, gebaut, um seine eigene luxuriöse Residenz zu werden und den Verwaltungssitz des High Commissioner zu beherbergen. Heute beherbergt es das Korfu Museum of Asian Arts, das einzige seiner Art in Griechenland, das ausschließlich der Kunst und den Altertümern des Fernen Ostens und Indiens gewidmet ist. Während unserer Tour besuchen wir auch die Kirche Saint Spyridon, den Schutzpatron der Insel und Wundertäter.
Während wir durch die engen Gassen gehen, passieren wir den Rathausplatz von Korfu, einst das exklusive venezianische Viertel mit dem Opernhaus und den umliegenden Villen. Wir werden das Rathausgebäude bewundern, das zunächst als Club für die Adligen genutzt wurde, und später im Jahr 1720 beherbergte das Gebäude das Noble Theater des Heiligen Giacomo von Korfu. Schließlich wurde es 1903 in ein Rathaus umgewandelt.
Das jüdische Viertel, das alte venezianische „Ghetto“, das heute noch auf Griechisch Evraiki heißt, erstreckte sich über den südöstlichen Teil der Stadt in der Nähe der venezianischen Befestigungsanlagen. Es war durchzogen von Gassen, die wie in Venedig von verblassten Hochhäusern gesäumt waren. Das Ghetto verlor seine städtische Einheit durch Bombardierungen während des Zweiten Weltkriegs.

Electra was incredible knowledgable And provided a tour. The food was incredible, we did the 6pm tour and would recommend skipping lunch as you get a lot of excellent local food during the tour.
I booked this tour after a lot of research. We were on an Oceania Cruise and celebrating my parents 50th anniversary. This was HANDS DOWN everyone’s favorite tour. We had the wonderful good fortune to have Nausica as our guide and she was so vibrant, knowledgeable and full of fun facts. She showed us some of the best foods and little known historical area of corfu old town. She is the reason ever one of us agreed we need to come back to Corfu and spend a month exploring the island. If you have a chance to book a tour with this company, you will NOT be disappointed.

We’ve enjoyed some excellent small group food and cultural walking tours across Europe, but the combination of a brilliant guide (Nausica) - who was both highly informative and humorous - and the generous, varied and delicious food we enjoyed, made this the best tour we have joined. We’d have rated above 5 if we could. Next time we’re back in Corfu we’ll be back for another tour.

Alice was probably, no, she IS the BEST, tour guide ever! She has soooo much personality that the whole tour comes alive. Great information, great food stops, and always interesting. Words are not enough to describe how enjoyable this experience became. At each stop we were greeted by wonderful food presentations and happy cooks/owners. The only suggestion (this is minor) would be to decrease the number of “sweet” treats. Alice also provided a deep knowledge and understanding of Corfu.

Make sure you come hungry! This was a fantastic experience - our guide Alice was lovely and very informative it was a great way to get to know the city, try some delicious local food and meet fellow travellers. Electrabel was a welcoming, animated and thoughtful guide who gave us a marvellous cultural tour of Corfu old town. The tour punctuated with delightful and delicious food and drink stops sampling authentic Corfiot treats. It was the perfect blend of culture and food, with the experience brought to life by Elektra's amazing knowledge of Corfu, past and present. I was amazed that our tour even included a 2 course dinner at a charming bistro that we would never have found on our own. I could not recommend Electrabel and this tour more highly. Book it fast! You won't regret it!

Alice gave us an A-MAY-ZING food tour through old town Corfu, including cultural highlghts. Definitely get this tour with Alice- she's brilliant, warm, and a true foodie. Stops included huge platters of breakfast pastries, a meat and fruit platter, Kumquat and liquor tastings, a visit to an exceptional out of the way Michelin-noted spice shop and ended with a delicious family style lunch on an outdoor patio. Wow!! We had the most amazing time, and just loved Alice!
