Syntagma ist der zentrale Platz von Athen. Der Platz ist nach der Verfassung benannt, die Otto, der erste König Griechenlands, nach einem Volks- und Militäraufstand am 3. September 1843 gewähren musste. Er befindet sich vor dem alten Königspalast aus dem 19. Jahrhundert und beherbergt seit 1934 das griechische Parlament Der Syntagma-Platz ist sowohl aus historischer als auch aus sozialer Sicht der wichtigste Platz des modernen Athen, im Zentrum der Geschäftstätigkeit und der griechischen Politik.
Der Zentralmarkt (auch Varvakios Agora genannt) befindet sich zwischen Monastiraki und dem Omonoia-Platz und ist ein Muss, wenn Sie die griechische Kultur und das griechische Essen erkunden möchten Das Gebäude wurde Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts erbaut und ist täglich von früh morgens bis spät geöffnet. We enjoyed our walking tour with Tassos. Interesting stories loved the hole in the wall places be took us and got to feel the vibe of being a local in a place I’d never been! I’m still full ! Great Greek pastries, olives and gyros ! Plus recipes for later !

This was a superb tour! Our guide, Tassos was so funny, knowledgeable and kind. The pace was perfect and we chatted all the way around. The food was delicious and plentiful with us tasting things and seeing streets and markets we’d never have ventured into or tried. This has been a wonderful four hours! Highly recommend

Tassos, our guide for the day, is extraordinary; he took the time to tell us the history of the city of Athens and took us on a journey through culinary history in an exceptional conviviality. Tassos was fantastic! He did a great job explaining the places, history, and the food. The value was also great, the food portions were much larger than other food tours we have done and we left the tour with bags of fruit, nuts, and olives. Would highly recommend!
