This was an awesome experience. We love kayaking but had never been at night. This was well worth it. The guide was great. Made it educational and entertaining all at the same time. Would definitely recommend.
great, jason really knew what he was doing, so fun
I would not recommend this tour to anyone who is kayaking in the dark for the first time. The tour was very disorganized. We arrived at the required time of 8:30 PM, but the tour guide and his assistant still weren’t ready. A nearby group from BK Adventure, which started at the same time as ours, had already finished the safety briefing and launched, while we were still waiting for our guide to unload the last kayak and adjust the seats. The assistant appeared to be inexperienced and wasn’t able to help the guide very much. By the time everyone finally got on the water, we were already behind schedule. Once we were kayaking, the guide spoke very quietly, so it was difficult to hear the instructions. Despite that, we did get to see the bioluminescence and comb jellies, and we enjoyed that part of the experience. At the end of the tour, we were rushed back to shore, which I believe was because we were running well behind the scheduled finish time. Overall, while the natural experience was beautiful, the poor organization made the tour much less enjoyable, especially for first-time night kayakers.
The directions to the exact location for pickup were not clear and their sign was difficult to see. There was no one visible at the meeting place to ask if it was the right location as there were multiple guide groups going out from that road. There were about 15 kayaks on our trip. It took a very long time to get everyone in the water and ready to go. Little to no instruction. The guide could not be heard due to her distance from most of the kayakers and the noise created by that many people. The kayaks were so scattered about that anyone could have disappeared and not been noticed. At one point, the guide disappeared for about 10-15 minutes. We eventually got back to the landing, but it was not a great trip. The funnest thing was trying to navigate the pilings beneath the bridge, kind of like playing bumper kayaks. It was a very pleasant evening weather-wise, but was not enjoyable due to the noise of the other people and the disorganized trip.
Even though we had a rain delay Jason kept us updated on when we would depart. We had a great time catching luminous jellies. My daughters loved the glowing bioluminescence of the water too! Definitely recommend!
Our guide was very knowledgeable about the species of animals, the trees, and local history. Adrena made our trip fun and educational! The water was good even after the storm. Definitely want to bring more family down and do again!
Our sunset/wildlife tour was more than expected. We got to see a few manatees and dolphins. Our guide, the owner, was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the best place to see wildlife. He was very polite, communicated well, and was engaged in as much or as little conversation as wanted. He positioned us to see a beautiful sunset at just the right time. He made entry and exit into the kayaks and water very easy and was very persistent when it came to finding animals to see. He knew the patterns of their travel and explained why they did what they did. He was very honest about expectations of the trip before we booked and did not try to 'oversell' anything. We will definitely be joining him in the summer for a bioluminescence tour. Thank you for the nice time.
Our guide was great. He knew so much about the history of the area, the wildlife we saw. The kayaks were very comfortable and easy to navigate. Relaxing way to spend the morning.
Great kayak opportunity at sunset to see active manatees and even a pair of dolphins circle the bay. Guide readily shared her knowledge of wildlife which rounded out the experience. We would do this again! One note = our time was changed to sunset precluding any bioluminescent sighting.
This was a fun and educational experience! Our guide, Adrenal, was very knowledgeable and great with people. You should know how to kayak to do this experience. We saw quite a bit of wildlife and experienced a gorgeous sunset. Excellent experience!
