Interesting, educational & ethical tour!

We had a fantastic boat tour today with our guide Masyi. We ended up booking a private tour in the afternoon as it worked out roughly the same price as 4 adults on the morning tour. Masyi was very knowledgable about the landscape and the wildlife, and we all learned lots. We saw eagles, kites, monkeys, fiddler crabs, mudskippers, monitor lizard, mangrove pit vipers, bats, and a couple of different kingfishers. Despite a bit of rain at the start of the tour, it was a great day out. Above all, we appreciated their ethical approach to interacting with the animals, not feeding the eagles and monkeys. Most of the tours throw chicken skin into the river so the eagles will dive for it, but this food isn’t good for them, and trains them to be fed rather than hunt. Very sad, when it’s only done to increase tourist spend. So go with an ethical company like JungleWalla!

A wonderful couple of hours spent touring the Unesco Global geopark. Our guide, Ain, was very knowledgeable and explained everything in great detail. Highly recommended!

Perfect!

I went on the JungleWalla UNESCO Geopark Mangrove Cruise (2.5 hours) in late June. I always worry when booking a tour like this, as I envision being squished on a hot crowded boat with a disingenuous guide, unable to see anything. This was the complete opposite -- there were only three of us, plus our guide (Ain) and captain (Faris). Ain spoke at length about the different animals and the mangrove and answered all our questions, while Faris expertly navigated through narrow passages while somehow simultaneously spotting pit vipers hidden amongst the branches and leaves. 10/10, highly recommend this professional (and ethical) tour!

Mangrove tour

Amazing trip and Ain was a great guide and exceptionally informative - would recommend!! Good that this trip does not feed the animals also.

Beautiful

This tour exceeded our expectations, Ain was our guide, she was passionate, informative and knowledgeable about the wildlife and mangroves. Our skipper I'm sorry I forgot his name, was careful and safe in getting us around this amazing reserve. We chose this operator as they don't feed or interfere with the wildlife at all, which most of the others do causing unnatural behaviour. The Kites and Eagles were majestic and the crabs and mudskippers cute! This is a truly beautiful, precious and important place. Thank you Ain for your warmth and passion.

We recommend JungleWalla!

We thoroughly enjoyed the geopark boat cruise with our guides, Ayra and Masyi and boatman, Faris. Our guides are very knowledgeable and explained very clearly about the mangroves and wildlife. We cruised through the narrow mangroves and the bat cave. Most importantly is we chose the right and ethical operator, no bird and monkey feeding and respect the mangroves. It is shocking observing how other operators pack crowded and noisy boat loads. And worse, feed chicken skin to eagles to make sure they dive for food for the pleasure of tourists. Please choose JungleWalla for a proper and ethical Geopark cruise.

Ethical Wildlife Admiration

There are only 2 operators that do this tour ethically, and this is one of them. We are very grateful to have been on this tour with Ayra. She and her colleague, Maysi, were extremely knowledgeable, kind, easy-going and it’s easy to see that they and this company as a whole respects the wildlife! We saw eagles, kites, monitor lizards, unique fish, bats, crabs, mudskippers (my favorite), monkeys, and thanks to their team’s sharp eyes- two pit vipers. I felt extremely safe and comfortable during the tour and really enjoyed learning about the mangroves. Shoutout to Captain Faris for steering the boat and ensuring that all guests had a good view during our stops. Lovely team all-around. It was really important to me that my partner and I do this tour as ethically as possible, and we’re very happy with our experience!! Much love to JungleWalla :)

An ethical, unforgettable wildlife experience — ask for Masyi! (Mangrove boat cruise + night hike)

My friend and I did both the mangrove boat tour and the night hike with Masyi, and it was the highlight of our Langkawi trip. What immediately stood out about JungleWalla is what they don’t do — no eagle feeding, no monkey feeding. Just genuine, respectful wildlife encounters in their natural habitat. That ethos sets them apart. On the mangrove tour, our boat driver’s sharp eyes spotted not one but two mangrove pit vipers tucked along the riverbank — something I never would have found on my own. The night hike was nothing short of incredible. I lost count of the hornbills at around 15–20 (oriental pied, great, and wreathed all in one evening!), and we also came across a colugo and a flying squirrel. Masyi was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic — she answered every question we threw at her and clearly loves what she does. If you care about wildlife and want a guide who does too, book with JungleWalla and request Masyi. Worth every ringgit.

Amazing eco friendly Mangrove tour with knowledgable guide and captain.

Ain was our guide and she was fantastic, knowledgeable and passionate about the preservation of the mangrove forests and waterways as well as the animals who live there. We deliberately chose JungleWalla because they don’t interfere with the wildlife as do many of the other tour operators, for example, feeding the eagles and kites so that the tourists can get a better shot of them on their cameras! As it was, we saw a monitor lizard, a mangrove pit viper, a kingfisher, monkeys, eagles and kites and bats and this was without forced interaction with the animals. Sadly, the health and natural behaviours of the eagles and kites and monkeys are being compromised by tourism. However, people do need to live and it is a fine balance. We felt this was the best tour to choose and we learnt so much from Ain and the captain was very respectful whilst steering the boat through the mangrove waterways. It was fun when he opened up the engine at the end of the tour and we sped fast back to the jetty. A wonderful experience.
