The tour of the synagogue was disappointing. There was no one who could explain the history of the synagogue or the Jewish community. On the other hand the meeting with Chabad was wonderful and we were able to get insight into the Jewish community.

The guide knew nothing about Jewish history in Manaus. He said the rabbi sometimes accompanies him but the rabbi was "busy". Logistically we did get to the places advertised but we had to remind the guide what was included in our tour and to ask him to take us there. So I would say the tour was adequate and the guide was poor.

We were warmly welcomed by the Rabbi at Manaus Chabad who gave us the history of Jews in the Amazon. Prayers were said before we visited Jewish grave sights at a local cemetery. A beautiful way to connect!
