Excellent tour

My husband and I did this tour as part of a 10 year anniversary trip to Croatia. We spent 3 nights in Rovinj and did this tour on our first full day. This was a private tour with just us and our guide Angie. We were picked up from our hotel and taken on a great day that included 4 stops. The first stop was an olive oil manufacturer. We received a tour of the facility and then did an olive oil tasting. We also had several courses of food and several wine tastings. It was raining the day we went so we had to be inside, which was very nice, but if you go on a nice day the outdoor area was beautiful with a great view. The staff at this stop was informative and friendly. The second stop was the truffle hunting stop. We were given boots and rain ponchos by the staff. We went out with a larger group with a truffle hunter and 2 dogs. While we didn't find any truffles, we had a fun time out with our guide. We then had lunch in a beautiful space. There were appetizers, wine, and two truffle dishes. Everything was delicious. The third stop was the town of Motovun. We walked around and saw the town which was very nice and good way to walk off all of the food and drinks we had. The last stop was a winery. We had several wines and a charcuterie board. The staff here was also wonderful. There is so much food on this tour. We could have gone without breakfast that morning or something very small and we did not need dinner that night, just a small snack. There was also more wine than I had expected. No complaints from me, I loved it all. Angie was a terrific guide. She knows a lot about Istria and the places we visited. She also had umbrellas for all of us and even let me use her jacket as it was colder and rainier than expected. This was the perfect way to spend a rainy day in Istria and allowed us to see more of the region then we would have as we didn't rent a car during our stay.

Wonderful day in Istria

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had the pleasure of exploring Istria with our tour guide, Agnieszka, and the experience was absolutely unforgettable. She is incredibly knowledgeable about Croatian history, culture, and traditions, and brought each stop of our journey to life. Our day began at Ipša, a family-run olive oil producer known for their award-winning extra virgin olive oils. We learned firsthand about the olive harvesting process as we stood beside freshly picked crates of olives, ready to be pressed. Agnieszka explained the deep roots of olive oil production in Istria, dating back to Roman times, and guided us through a tasting that highlighted the region’s unique terroir. We also had the opportunity to see truffle-hunting dogs—Agnieszka explained the history of truffle hunting in the Motovun forest, an area famous for its prized white truffles that attract gourmets from around the world. Watching the dogs in action was both educational and charming. The journey continued with a visit to Rossi Winery, one of the region’s oldest wine producers, established in 1885. Agnieszka guided us through a tasting of their exceptional wines and brandies, connecting each sip to Croatia’s long history of viticulture, which stretches back to ancient Illyrian and Roman settlements. We finished the tour in the hilltop town of Motovun, a beautifully preserved medieval village with Venetian architecture. Walking through the cobblestone streets and standing beneath the imposing bell tower, Agnieszka shared stories of Motovun’s strategic importance during Venetian rule and how the town has remained a cultural and culinary hub of Istria. The views over the Mirna Valley were simply breathtaking. Agnieszka not only shared facts but also stories and context that made every tasting, every step, and every view meaningful. Thanks to her, we walked away not only with delicious flavors of olive oil, truffles, and wine but also with a deeper appreciation for Croatia’s history and traditions. If you’re visiting Istria, I highly recommend booking a tour with Agnieszka—you will come away with memories and knowledge that last a lifetime.

Istrian culinary Adventure

Red carpet service with a friendly and informative guide. You will get to tour and sample local wines, olive oils and foods and talk with the producers. The highlight of the trip is the truffle hunt with a truffle hunter and their dog! This trip is highly recommended but make sure to come with a big appetite!

Fantastic Tour for Foodies

What a wonderful introduction to the gourmet offerings of Istria! Our tour guide, Agnieska, made the day a treat with her knowledge and love of the region. We enjoyed all of the stops along the way - the view of Motovun, olive oil experience, truffle hunting, and brandy and wine tasting. What more could could you ask for in a tour!

Incredible Day

Amazing day showing off the best of Istria. Great scenic stops at the olive oil, Motovun and Winery. Agi truly loves the region and its history. Truffle hunting was amazing but make sure you bring good shoes for hiking. We went on the "hard trail" and it involved a lot more off trail adventures than I was expecting, way more than just a walk in the woods. We found two truffles! This area is absolutely beautiful and having a knowledgable guide was fun and made it very relaxing. Overall it was an incredible day I would recommend to anyone!

Beautiful Istria

The trip was beautiful and Agnieszka's knowledge of the area and history helped to make the experience incredible. The Istrian countryside is breath taking and she knew the geography well, including small historic towns. The truffle hunting excursion eith the dog was very unique and fun. The olive oil tour and tasting was great. The wine tasting overlooking the countryside at Rossi was an incredible highlight. Would definitely recommend this excursion. Thank you Agnieszka for such a wonderful day!

One of my favorite experiences

One of the best tours I’ve ever been on! Agi took my boyfriend and I throughout Istria for the day. She went above and beyond the itinerary and offered to add in extra stops along the way for views and pictures. We went to Ipsa for olive oil tasting and snacks. They were almost never ending with the various snacks brought out and they also had us sample three types of wines. Next stop was Karlic for some truffle hunting. There they taught us all you could ever know about truffles, and the history of their truffle business. We were also served various snacks with truffles as well as home made scrambled truffle eggs and donuts with “trufella” (chocolate truffle). We were able to watch them make the eggs and donuts as if we were in a live cooking show. After we ate more truffle snacks than you could imagine, we went on the hunt with their professional truffle hunting dogs. We spent about 45 minutes in the forest with the dogs. I would recommend sneakers for this part because although it’s not strenuous, the trail is somewhat steep. At the end of our hunt Agi met us with the car to take us to Motovun where we walked the city walls. Our last stop was Matosevic Winery. We were greeted with a welcome glass of white wine to sip on while learning all about their various wines and the wine making process. Lastly we sampled 7 wines while enjoying some charcuteries. During the drive between stops Agi taught us all about the history of Istria and the rest of Croatia. This tour is worth every penny!
