Our truffle hunting experience was one of the most special and memorable experiences of our entire trip to Slovenia . From the moment my mom and I arrived, our host and hunting guide made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. She was incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about truffle hunting and sharing her love of the local culture with us. What made this experience truly unforgettable was that it wasn’t just a tour—it felt like we were being welcomed into her world. We had the opportunity to go truffle hunting, learn about the process, and then be welcomed into her beautiful home where she prepared an incredible meal for us. Sitting around her table, enjoying the food we had helped discover, sharing stories, laughing, and experiencing this beautiful tradition together was something we will never forget. It felt incredibly authentic and personal—like we were guests of a friend rather than tourists on an excursion. The food was absolutely delicious, the experience was fascinating, and our host was genuinely wonderful. You could feel how much pride and love she has for her home, her traditions, and what she does. We came for a truffle hunt and left with a beautiful memory, full hearts, and a wonderful connection to the local culture. ❤️ If you’re looking for something authentic and completely different from the typical tourist experience, I cannot recommend this experience enough. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip and something we will be talking about for years to come!!

Sorry this review is being posted so late! Family of 4 did this tour in late June. Jerneja was a wonderful host - we mixed up our tour date due to OUR mistake, and she was still able to graciously accommodate us. We learned so much about truffles and the food and drinks were delicious. It was a terrific insight into the hospitality of the Istrian people.

A Very fun and educational experience learning about truffle hunting and participating in truffle hunting. It was followed by a delicious meal of truffles with pasta in our guide’s backyard. We got to help cook which was also very fun! A truly wonderful experience! The dog was precious and friendly too and a highlight of the trip!

This was an absolutely wonderful experience! From meeting and cooking with Jerneja, to hunting truffles with Biss the dog. Everyone on this tour was super knowledgeable and very personable. Very relaxing meal on Jerneja back porch. 10/10 recommend!

I cannot say enough good things about this tour! Jerneja was very responsive and timely, during the booking and upon arrival from our ship. I wasn't sure how to get to the location and she advise us that their are taxi's at the port and waited for us upon arrival. She was their to meet us and coordinated a return pick with the taxi driver. The tour was great! So informative and fun. She explained everything in detail and we not only learned all about truffles, hunting truffles and how the dogs are trained and work, but how to cook with the truffles. The meal we made after the hunt was delicious and her home very welcoming and comfortable. I would like to mentioned the taxi, Jakov was great, we arrived by ship and didn't know the language, his English was good and he was friendly, professional and was there waiting for us after the tour. This was a really great tour. Informative and the real fresh truffle pasta was sooo good. We enjoyed the stories and the knowledgeable and passionate guide with a real sense of humour made it a lot of fun. Never felt rushed and no questions too much to answer. Would recommend to anyone to do this tour!

Excellent tour to learn about truffles, experience a truffle hunt in the woods with a dog and an expert truffle hunter. Finally you learn how truffles are used in cooking. You help prepare the meal and taste different dishes with truffles!

This was a truly unique experience for our family – me, my husband, and our two children aged 11 and 6. Jerneja was a wonderful host and shared so many interesting insights about truffles and truffle hunting. It was genuinely fascinating to listen to her. You can clearly see that she is passionate about what she does and has a deep knowledge of the subject. A special thank you to Waldi and, of course, to the dog Bistra for such a memorable experience. We loved watching Bistra at work, and the children were absolutely delighted. Be sure to bring some cash with you, as you will have the opportunity to buy delicious locally produced products. The culinary part of the experience also deserves special mention. We thoroughly enjoyed grating fresh truffles ourselves, and Jerneja gave a detailed demonstration of how to prepare traditional fuži with truffles. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was hard to resist finishing every last bite! Wonderful people, warm hospitality, great attention to detail, and a very welcoming atmosphere throughout the day. Highly recommended! We would gladly come back again!

Jerneja was so warm and welcoming, and the truffle hunting was informative and fun. Loved meeting the Valdi and his dog, Bistra, and the explanations of how the dogs are trained. Walking through the woods and ending with a home-cooked meal with local drinks and food and sharing conversation with Jerneja was a highlight of our trip. Would highly recommend taking this tour, you will not be disappointed.

We had such an amazing experience. Jerneja was informative with explaining how truffle hunting dogs are trained and what to expect during the truffle hunt. We enjoyed the lovely meal that Jerneja cooked with truffles and just enjoyed the true taste of truffles without any truffle flavoring that is typically added in restaurants. We also especially enjoyed our conversations with Jerneja. It was a unique experience that I would recommend to others who are visiting Slovenia! We booked this experience on our second day in Slovenia and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
