Reiseverlauf

Amazing way to explore and experience the culture, history and cuisine of Turkey. Sooooo much food to try! So don't eat breakfast that day!! I am not a fussy eater - and I absolutely loved everything!!! The breakfast stop was great, and amongst my favorites were I think what is called döner kebap (?) and the mussels! I am not even a big mussel fan, but these were truly incredible. Enjoy this FULL day itinerary and food for foodies experience.
Ali was excellently fantastic, very knowledgeable and kind. Food was delicious and well curated, a delightful way to spend time in Turkey.
Just blown away by this in depth cullinary experience. Also the historical layers of what Istanbul and Turkey was and is today was explained to us by Selen and this made the food and experience even more special.! The food was exceptional. I would never have known what and where to eat in Instanbul- let alone cross to the Asian side.
Thanks! We're so glad you had a great day with Selen and that the historical layers she shared made the food taste even more special. Knowing what to eat and where, let alone crossing to the Asian side, is exactly what a day with us opens up. That's no accident, it's the whole idea behind the tour! We look forward to welcoming you back to our table. :)
Very intetesting choice of food. Very skilled and knowledgable guide (at least the one I had) not only with couisine matters but also with local history, origin of certain dishes, origin of their names
Thanks, Robert! We're so glad you had a great day with us and enjoyed the interesting choice of dishes. A guide who can tell you not just what you're eating but where a dish comes from and how it got its name is exactly what turns a good meal into a real understanding of the food. Wishing you happy and yummy travels. :)
Ali, our guide was knowledgeable and very kind. The food was amazing and plentiful. Ali also taught some cooking tips which I will continue to experiment with. Great tour. Be prepared to tip 2 of the restaurants.
Thanks, Denise! We're so glad you had a great day with Ali and came away with cooking tips to carry home, that's a lovely way to keep a bit of the tour going in your own kitchen. Do experiment away, and enjoy making those dishes your own! We look forward to welcoming you back to our table. :)
Come hungry and bring Tupperware! It was a delightful day. Ali was friendly, fun, patient and full of great information. We learned so much. We did walk quite a bit further than it said, so be prepared. There was a great selection of things to try and way too much food, so remember that when you are at the first stop.
Thanks, RuthAnn! We're so glad you had a great day with Ali and found it well worth it. Coming hungry is absolutely the way to do it, there's a generous spread waiting, and that abundance is the Turkish way of hospitality. Comfortable shoes are a good shout too, since you'll cover a fair bit of the city on foot along the way! We look forward to welcoming you back to our table. :)
The tour was great but even better was our guide, Selen. From the moment we met her we knew it would be amazing. She was kind, witty, super knowledgeable, charming, funny and thorough. Cant say enough good things about her. We have done many tours, many foos tours around the world and she was the best guide we have ever had. If you are lucky enough to have her, consider it a gift.
Thanks, Judd! We're so glad you had a great day exploring and eating your way across the city with us. And we couldn't agree more about Selen, she really is wonderful, and anyone lucky enough to have her on the day is in the best hands! We look forward to welcoming you back to our table. :)
On review sites, there's a certain pressure to give any good experience 5-stars. This is a rare one that would truly be a 5-star experience even if 4 stars truly meant "very good". It's a full day, but you get to try so much delicious Turkish food (my family's favorite being the Iskender kebab), see Istanbul from the water, and learn about the local culture. I've done many food tours all over the world and can legitimately say this is the best one I've ever done. Expect to have a leisurely Turkish breakfast, multiple sit down stops, and a few quick bites of street food.
Thanks, Matthew! That means a great deal, especially from someone thoughtful enough to weigh what five stars really stands for. The İskender is a firm family favourite for good reason, and getting to see Istanbul from the water while you taste your way across it is the whole idea behind the day. Being the best food tour you've done, out of many, is high praise we'll happily take! We look forward to welcoming you back to our table. :)
This was a fabulous tour. My husband and I really enjoyed meeting Ali, and getting his take on the city and its food. He was fun, insightful, and very informative.
Thanks, Jennifer! We're so glad you and your husband had a great day with Ali and enjoyed getting his take on the city and its food. There's nothing like hearing about Istanbul from someone who knows it inside out, with a plate in front of you and the stories to go with it! Eat yummy, be happy. :)
One of our favorite experiences in Istanbul! Ali was a fabulous guide: gentle, patient, funny, prompt, organized and informative. We learned so much about the city, the food and the culture. We loved that we were able to go to both continents and see a wide variety of food items, and to learn such interesting context along the way. Our whole family, including three teenagers, had a blast!
Thanks, Claire! We're so glad your whole family, teenagers and all, had a great day with Ali and got to cross both continents while tasting your way through such a variety of food. Learning the stories behind each dish as you go is exactly what we set out to give you. Winning over three teenagers is a badge of honour too! Wishing you happy and yummy travels. :)
