Thank you so much. We spend a lovly time. We are so glad I was able to learn the basics of South Indian cuisine. I'll definitely come again!
We made 3 delicious dishes together (paneer butter masala, potato and cauliflower dry masala, and Dal/lentils). Sundari also prepared some drinks and naan to go with the meal. She is a great listener, gifted cook, and exceptional teacher. She asked for my menu preferences and developed a menu based on that. I requested to learn about spices, and she explained ratios, and the timing to add spices to maximize their flavor. Each recipe had exceptionally well balanced spice profiles that I just loved!! We also walked to a small grocer so that I could buy the spices we used to bring home. This was a great experience. A short ride (15 min) Uber from ITC Chola. I highly recommend!
Thank you for this wonderful review! We’re so happy to hear you had such an enjoyable and flavorful experience with . From learning to prepare paneer butter masala, aloo gobi, and dal to understanding the balance and timing of spices, it sounds like the class was both delicious and deeply informative. We love that Sundari customized the menu around your preferences and shared her knowledge in such a thoughtful and approachable way. Great Indian cooking is truly all about layering flavors at the right moment — and it sounds like she gave you the kind of insight that stays with you long after the meal is over. The visit to the local grocer to pick up spices to bring home is also such a special touch; now your kitchen gets a little extension of the experience too! Thank you again for your recommendation, and we’re delighted this culinary adventure became such a memorable part of your trip.
Absolutely fantastic food. This is the best food that I have tasted in a long time. Sundari I also very good company. She and her husband have a beautiful home as well.

Thank you again for joining Sundari and her husband for this special experience!
Exceptional welcome, wonderful and inspiring teacher, impressive results. We cooked with heart and soul, using few ingredients but adding magical spices along the way. Eating some of the best food, the laughter we shared and memories, will last forever! Thank you!

Sundari is an amazing teacher and cook, her classes are a delight to take and she is a wondering person to learn from. I had so much fun in this class and highly recommend to take her class. She not only teaches you how to cook yummy meals but also teaches the context behind Indian cooking and culture.
Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a fun and enriching time cooking with Sundari. Hearing your words that she is the best cooking teacher ever just made our day! Sundari truly is a remarkable teacher and host, and we're so happy you enjoyed not just the delicious recipes, but also the deeper cultural context she shares with such passion. It's guests like you who make these experiences so special. Thank you for recommending Sundari's cooking class in Chennai. We hope to welcome you back for another culinary adventure soon! Warm regards, The Traveling Spoon Team
It was a wonderful experience! Sundari took contact with me in advance to explain exactly how to reach her home. It was perfect. She also ask me what I would like to cook, so I could choose traditional dishes of Tamil Nadu. After a warm welcome, she taught me very patiently how to make idly, dosa, coconut chutney, sambar and kootu. She gave a lot of explanation so that I can do it when I'll be back in Switzerland. She gave also a lot of explanation about life in Chennai and very good tips. It was a great pleasure to meet her and for sure, next time I go to Chennai, I'll take another lesson with Sundari. Thanks a lot dear Sumdari
Thank you for sharing this thoughtful review! We’re so glad your experience with went so smoothly from start to finish. It’s great to hear she made coordination easy in advance and tailored the cooking class around the Tamil Nadu dishes you wanted to learn. Idli, dosa, coconut chutney, sambar, and kootu are all classics — and it sounds like she didn’t just teach recipes, but also gave you the “why” behind the techniques so you can confidently recreate them back in Switzerland. Even better is that you also got a glimpse into everyday life in Chennai through her stories and tips. That’s often the part guests remember just as much as the cooking. We’ll make sure your kind words reach her (and yes, she’ll appreciate the spelling correction too). Hope your next visit to Chennai includes another session with her — sounds like there’s still plenty more delicious learning ahead.
What a wonderful evening we spent in Sundari and Krishna's home. Having received the warmest of welcomes, we then spent our time in the kitchen enjoying a masterclass in Indian vegetarian cookery. I left the selection of dishes to Sundari, only asking for guidance on how to cook some main dishes. We were not disappointed. The instruction was clear and interactive. We only had to note down invaluable tips from Sundari, as she had already sent the recipes and VERY clear instructions on how to make the dishes ahead of our visit. On the menu: Vegetable Kolhapuri with rich makhani sauce / Mango yellow dahl / Aloo tikka saffron rice To supplement our meal, homemade naans, an aubergine side dish (ponchitta kathrikai curry) and raita were provided with a delicious honey fruit salad for dessert. Thanks also for ordering.our uber home. 10/10 experience.
Thank you for this fantastic review — it really captures the full experience beautifully. We’re so happy to hear your evening with and was such a memorable one, from the warm welcome to the hands-on vegetarian cooking masterclass. It’s great that Sundari prepared everything in advance with clear recipes and instructions, so you could focus on learning, cooking, and enjoying the experience. The menu you described is a feast — Vegetable Kolhapuri with makhani sauce, mango yellow dal, aloo tikka saffron rice, plus naan, aubergine curry, raita, and a honey fruit dessert is not holding back in any way. We also love that the experience went beyond the kitchen — right down to thoughtful touches like helping arrange your ride home. That’s the kind of care that turns a cooking class into a full evening of hospitality. A solid 10/10 doesn’t need much interpretation — sounds like you left well-fed, well-taught, and well looked after.
All the procedures were perfect and I learned a lot. And above all, the people are wonderful. I will definitely come again if I have the chance to go to India next time. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this lovely reflection. It really says it all — smooth process, meaningful learning, and above all, genuinely wonderful people. We’re so happy to hear your experience with and left such a strong impression on you. When guests walk away not just with new skills, but with warmth, connection, and confidence to recreate what they’ve learned, that’s exactly what these experiences are meant to deliver. We’ll be here whenever you make it back to India — sounds like there’s still a lot more cooking (and good company) waiting for you next time.
I had a spectacular experience. Sundari is a great host: when there was an issue with the booking, she went above and beyond to make sure I did not get overcharged. Her teaching style is very approachable, and she is an excellent conversationalist. She also made to give me additional recommendations for my time in Chennai. Overall, it was of my most enjoyable experiences in India thus far.
Thank you for sharing this — it’s a really strong endorsement of both the experience and the host. We’re so glad your time with stood out as one of your most enjoyable moments in India so far. What really comes through here isn’t just the cooking, but the way she handled everything beyond it — sorting out a booking issue proactively, making sure you weren’t overcharged, and still going the extra mile with thoughtful recommendations for the rest of your stay. That combination of calm problem-solving, warm conversation, and approachable teaching is exactly what makes these experiences memorable rather than just instructional. Sounds like you didn’t just leave with new recipes — you left with a very solid reason to come back.
Sundari combines her skills as both a teacher and cook to deliver an authentic South Indian cooking experience. Her food is delicious and well balanced, underpinned by her extensive food knowledge, all done in an open and welcoming manner. Cooking with her is like going to a special friend’s kitchen and sharing knowledge and food. A thoroughly delightful experience. Thank you Sundari.
