Very friendly guide, was great about dealing with a food allergy in our family, good portion sizes, was full after the tour.
The tour was terrible, the guide was hammered. The only thing he would talk about was the available drink options at every stop. It took him forever to go over the list, pretty much the same every time, and get everyone's drink orders. Forget actually talking about you know food. The food itself ranged from mediocre (ok I know it's street food but still) to simply inedible. I was honestly surprised that you can find such low quality in Japan, must be just for tourists.
Thank you for your review. We take all feedback seriously; however, after checking our records, we cannot find any record of you joining our tour during June or July. Due to previous cases of reviews being mistakenly posted on our page, we now keep detailed guest lists for every tour. Our guides have a strict no-alcohol policy before tours and can only enjoy drinks at selected stops alongside guests. A guide being intoxicated would be completely against our policies and standards. We were also surprised by the comments regarding the guide’s knowledge of the food. All of our guides are highly experienced and have worked in the Shinsekai area for several years. They are passionate about Osaka’s food culture, have extensive knowledge of the dishes we offer, and regularly share the history and stories behind each food item. We also work closely with trusted local vendors and are very consistent with the quality and selection of food featured on our tours. We are proud of our food selection and the thousands of guests who have enjoyed our experiences. We’re sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience, but we kindly ask you to confirm that you reviewed the correct company, as there are several similar food tours operating in Osaka. This is the perfect way to enjoy the unique Shinsekei district and Osaka street food. Great if you need a bit of guidance about how to navigate the Japanese food and drink scene and want to try different flavours. Matt was very welcoming and had plenty of local tips as well as factual tidbits about Osaka history. Definitely recommend for solo trips or groups/families. Be aware that vegan and veggie options are very limited (it is Japan, after all), although they will try to be as accommodating as possible.
