Simply amazing. One of the Biggest and Best museums we've ever been to. Wonderful for the children too. Thank you for this experience.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the Historic Village Herberton and that it was such a great experience for the children too. We really appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back again soon!
The venue is lovely and aesthetically pleasing. The tea room, while charming, suffers from uncomfortable temperatures. Their operating hours appear to be arbitrarily chosen, causing inconvenience, especially to a family of 5. This inconsistency makes planning a visit difficult. I recommend confirming their hours before arrival but even then it's subject to change on the way they feel.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! We’re so glad you enjoyed the charm and atmosphere of the Bakerville Tearoom. We understand it can be frustrating when opening hours aren’t clear and really appreciate your suggestion to call ahead to help with planning your day.
The owners have put a huge effort into showcasing early Australian colonial history but the near complete absence of Aboriginal history and culture is disturbing and inappropriate in modern Australia. I was torn between being impressed by what had been achieved here but also disappointed that people can only focus on colonial history. Apparently there is an exhibit of Aboriginal culture but it's very small and not prominent.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your recognition of the effort put into preserving and showcasing Herberton’s pioneering history. While the Village primarily focuses on the settlement and mining era, we acknowledge the long-standing Indigenous connection to this land. Our "Herberton: Heart of the North" film, which screens daily, provides historical context, including aspects of the region’s broader history. We are always looking for ways to enhance our exhibits and appreciate your perspective as we continue to develop and refine our storytelling.
The historical village is amazing. Soooo much to see. So well kept. Only complaint is paying $20 per adult for a 5 minute train ride on the old train. This was a total rip off and I advise everyone else to keep your money in your pocket. Nothing to see along the way. Sooo short and soooo overpriced.
This place exceeded my expectations. Did not allow enough time. The collection is vast and varied. It really is huge. A full day would not cover it. My 11 year old grandson could not get enough.
We are so pleased the Village exceeded your expectations and that your grandson had a wonderful day out with you. Creating memories and experiences is what we hope to do at the Village, and it sounds like you all had a great day. Thank you once again for visiting and we hope to welcome you back sometime again in the future.
We spent the whole day here. Absolutely incredible display, that is so beautifully preserved. Staff members were all very friendly and offered their knowledge on the history of the area. In my opinion, $35 for adult entry is far too cheap for the experience at this little village. Not to mention this $35 gets you a 3 day pass! We loved it and will be recommending it to everyone we know.
Thank you for your kind words Michaela. We do indeed try our best to keep prices visitor friendly and will surely pass your compliments on to the team.
The demonstrations - the woodworking, blacksmithing, printer & John Deere tractor were terrific. The craftsmen are very knowledgeable & enthusiastic. The display of so many historical artifacts is unbelievable - a fantastic collection from days gone by.
Thank you for your wonderful words, we'll pass the compliments on to Darryl!
Well preserved and presented displays of the past with working engines and machinery. Allow a full day. There is so much to see.
Thank you for your kind words, we're glad you had a good time at the Village.
A very pleasant day in the heart of an Australian pioneer village and their history. A wide choice of buildings that will please everyone
