"We weren't sure how to best manage the transit between Ollantaytambo and Cusco, but this tour was the perfect answer. We got a full day of world-class sightseeing, incredible local insights, and a comfortable ride right to our next hotel. A brilliant concept and worth every cent."
Our driver and guide were both amazing, friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. We visited weaving cooperatives and saw how locals still use ancient techniques. It felt like a very authentic experience!
Such a well-organized day. We didn’t rush, everything flowed naturally. The guide explained the Inca traditions while we enjoyed the scenery of mountains, rivers, and villages. Ending in Cusco was very convenient.
Our guide made the journey unforgettable. We discovered hidden corners in the valley, took amazing photos of the mountains, and learned so much about the Inca people. Reaching Cusco at the end was a smooth transition after a day of discovery.
A wonderful private experience! 💫 The Sacred Valley was full of charm, from Pisac’s colorful market to the terraces of Chinchero. Ending the day in Cusco was just the right way to finish.
I loved how this trip connected everything together. We began in Ollantaytambo, explored the markets and ancient ruins, then continued through the Sacred Valley, ending in Cusco at sunset. It felt like a story of the Incas coming alive.
We signed up for a tour of ollantaytambo, the sacred valley and return to cusco, with an ENGLISH speaking guide. We understood when the start time was moved back (from 6am to 9am to account for the later opening time of the ollantaytambo archaeological site. Note that this is NOT a 12 hour tour as stated in the tour description/booking! Tour operator needs to change the description/contract since they already know it is not possible to enter the sites early. When the driver arrived, he spoke very little English. When he dropped us off at the Ollantaytambo site, we were connected to a tour guide who did NOT spoke English nor gave us a real tour. Rather, he spoke briefly at the entrance then told us to explore on our own. We felt strange about it as if we were misled by the tour description. We texted with the tour operator who did not understand the problem and did not acknowledge that this was not our agreement. She said that we were wrong and that the guide was qualified as an Englis-speaking tour guide. NOT TRUE! Luckily, we spoke some Spainsh and still had a good day because our driver, Alex, was helpful and knowledgeable and worked hard to make sure we had a good experience. We are very DISAPPOINTED not to have had access to the English language contextual information we were paying for with this tour and, frankly, would have preferred to simply hire a driver in Ollantaytambo to take us to the sites with our guidebook and rop us in Cusco. We would have saved a significant amount of money. Tour operator was contacted through Viator and refused any refund whatsoever, saying they met the terms of the contract. Do not waste your money using this tour operator, MachuPicchu Journey!
Had a wonderful, interesting tour of the Sacred Valley. Alberto picked us up at our hotel in Ollantaytambo, and we began with an energetic walk through (up!) the site which borders Ollantaytambo. It was not hurried, and we got a very good sense of the culture and history of the site from Alberto. Next, we drove (there was actually a driver (not Alberto) which deftly navigated the challenging roads throughout the day) the hour or so over to Urubamba, where we had a nice lunch at an impressive buffet restaurant, with the chance to sample a large variety of Peruvian cuisine. Next, we drove the distance eastward to Pisac, where we hiked through most of the very impressive archeological site above the town. Alberto then dropped us off at a shop in town that works with/fashions high quality silver jewelry and gemstones. This unexpected stop was actually very interesting and really made the day even more memorable. Finally, we drove the remaining distance back to our hotel in Cusac. Overall, we had a great experience with Alberto, and the tour added immeasurably to our time in Peru. Well worth the time and cost. Would do it again.
Despite saying they’d pick us up from hotel and being told hotel name well ahead of tour, on the day they tried to get more money out of us for having hotel outside of pick up area. Not that driver properly picked us up anyway. Tour guide did not speak English so it was very hard to tell him we did not want to follow their tour but create our own- surely the point of a private tour. Driver himself tried hard but the organiser was the issue.
Our guide was an expert in Inca civilization and provided incredible details about every site we visited, from Pisac to Ollantaytambo. It was fascinating to learn about the advanced engineering of the Incas. This tour is worth every moment!
