Halbtagestour ab Gaborone (Besuch des Dorfes Manyana)

Beschreibung

Chr. It was fantastic to get out of the city and learn about village life, see a home and garden as well as ancient rock paintings and the Livingstone tree. Otto was a spectacular guide.
It is a great half day excursion from Gaborone. Our guide Oto was knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic to show us the rock paintings, the Livingstone tree and the village of Manyana. Wonderful way to see the area around Gaborone.
Otto really provided me with a good understanding of the Botswana culture (in a way I got immersed in it). I would recommend it since she really got me to better understand the way of life, both with regards to the present and the past.
It was interesting to learn about (and see) the local village culture in Botswana, and and long ago.
The tour guide was great, the people she introduced to me were really really great. Its a very local experience which I loved!
I did the Manyana village tour and a 10 km hike at the Mokolodi game reserve. Saw hippos, giraffes, zebras, and all kinds of antelope. Saw a 3 ft monitor lizard jump off a 15 ft embankment into the river and some fish hawks. It was hot, so bring lots of water (I drank 3 liters). AMAZING!!
We did the full day version of the tour including the Manyana village visit and the Mokolodi Nature Reserve. The rock paintings are spectacular! The village experience was wonderful, with a delicious sorghum snack made for us by our guide, Andy, in the kitchen of a lovely local woman, who very kindly welcomed us into her home. The local guide as well was very charming and made us feel welcome in her village. In the afternoon we participated in a game drive at the nature reserve and enjoyed seeing a number of animals. The vehicle driver/guide was quite knowledgeable about all of them. Our tour group consisted of one adult and one 10-year-old child. The tour was at an appropriate level for both of us. The guides were more than willing to answer all of our questions from and we felt welcome throughout the tour. I would highly recommend this tour for adults or families.
What an experience to visit an authentic village on the outskirts of Gaborone, learn how to build a mud hut, discover 2,000 cave drawings, learn about the local plants, trees and herbal medecine, and finish it off with a game drive! This was such an enriching experience. I thoroughly recommend going through Heritage Adventures if you are visiting Gaborone. Top outfit!
Wonderful tour to the village of Manyana. In the village you can also experience a rock paintings and see the typical village life. Otto, who owns the tour company with her husband, has learned a lot about herbal medicine from her grandmother, and she shared a lot about the different plants and trees. After the tour to Manyana we went on a game drive and had a super lunch at the game drive restaurant.
I had a wonderful time! Seeing Manyana and the wall paintings was incredible, once in a life time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had lots to say about everything.
