Ihre Tour beginnt mit dem Besuch des "Museumssumme 1916". Dieser wird Ihnen eine gute Einführung geben und Ihnen helfen, die Lebensbedingungen des Soldaten zu verstehen. In diesem unterirdischen Museum befindet sich eine der größten Sammlungen von Gegenständen aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg. Der Besuch wird geführt.
Der "Lochnagar-Krater" ist das Ergebnis der Explosion der größten Mine, die am ersten Tag der Schlacht an der Somme stattgefunden hat beeindruckendste der Somme Ihr Führer wird den Beginn der Schlacht erklären.
Von den 421 Friedhöfen des CWGC im Departement der Somme ist es der drittgrößte. 2.758 Soldaten sind dort begraben oder gedenken. Ihr Führer wird erklären, wie jedes Land mit seinen Toten nach dem Krieg umgeht, welche Skandale mit dieser Aufgabe verbunden sind, wie die IWGC entstand und welche Philosophie beim Bau dieser Friedhöfe angewendet wurde. Besonderes Augenmerk wird auf die Erklärung der britischen Gräber gelegt.
Mit einer Höhe von 45 Metern ist das Memorial of the Disappeared das größte britische Denkmal der Welt: Mehr als 72.000 Namen britischer oder südafrikanischer Soldaten, die vor dem 20. März 1918 gekämpft haben, sind an den Wänden zu sehen. Dies wird eine Gelegenheit sein, über die Auswirkungen des Ersten Weltkrieges auf die Zivilbevölkerung und das Konzept des "Verschwundenen" sowie über den strategischen Aspekt der Schlacht an der Somme zu sprechen.
Der "Newfoundland Memorial Park" ist der einzige Ort an der Somme, an dem Sie die Überreste eines Schlachtfeldes finden und in den Gräben spazieren gehen können sowie die Soldaten des Ersten Krieges. Dieser Ort repräsentiert das Opfer der Neufundländer während der Schlacht an der Somme. Ihr Führer wird Sie über den Zustand der Soldaten in den Schützengräben und die Ereignisse informieren, die zur Massenversorgung der Neufundländer geführt haben.

What a fantastic tour! Dianne was absolutely brilliant, so informative, it was a fascinating afternoon. I went with my wife and mother in law who wanted to find her grandfather’s name on the Thiepval memorial. You get so much more from a tour with a guide who is able to answer all those random questions that come to into your head! Dianne has since helped us to uncover a great deal of information regarding where he fought and even diary accounts from his final days. Thank you for a truly memorable afternoon!

Booked travel and hotel to Albert upon receiving confirmation from Viator. Tour was cancelled 6pm the night before because guide was already booked and I shouldn’t have been able to book it.

We have just returned from the most informative and interesting Battle of Somme tour with Brigitte! It was perfectly tailored to my two sons age 9 & 10. They were fascinated throughout, learning new things in Museum 2016, visiting Lochnagar crater, Thiepval Memorial (where Brigitte successfully showed us how to find family members with our surname) and going into the preserved trenches. I would encourage anyone to book a tour with Brigitte, you learn so much more than doing it by yourself, especially if you have limited time. Also, we came by train so Brigitte was able to drive us everywhere. Thank you so much for such a fantastic experience, Brigitte - l am sure the boys will remember this for the rest of their lives!

Brigette was fantastic - so knowledgeable and interesting. It was 36 degrees today, and she checked with us in advance that we were still OK to go ahead with the tour. She brought water for us and sought out the shady spots where she could. Brigette's English is brilliant, her explanations of the Somme, the Battle itself, events leading up to it and the total devastation that followed really brought everything to life. We would thoroughly recommend this tour, particularly if Bridgette is leading it!
