Es handelt sich nicht um Wohltätigkeit, wie westliche Interpreten vermuten. Es ist wichtig zu wissen, dass die Zeremonie auch eine spirituelle Praxis ist, um gutes Karma für diejenigen anzusammeln, die Almosen geben. Es geht eher um eine symbolische Verbindung zum spirituellen Bereich und darum, Demut und Respekt in der Gegenwart der säkularen Gesellschaft zu zeigen. Der Akt des Almosengebens verbindet den Menschen mit dem Mönch und dem, was er repräsentiert. Das morgendliche Almosengeben ist eine lebendige buddhistische Tradition für die Menschen in Luang Prabang, die aufgrund ihrer Schönheit zu einer wichtigen Touristenattraktion geworden ist. Wenn Touristen sich der Bräuche jedoch nicht bewusst sind, kann ihr unangemessenes Verhalten störend sein.
[Nur 5:30 Uhr Option] I Nach der Almosengabe besuchen wir einen örtlichen Morgenmarkt. Der Morgenmarkt in Luang Prabang säumt ein paar ruhige Straßen in der Nähe des Königspalastes. Er beginnt früh und endet am Vormittag. Es liegt in ein paar Seitenstraßen neben einem der vielen Wats der Stadt. Ein Metzger und einige der touristischeren Stände haben echte Tische für ihre Waren. Aber die meisten Verkäufer, die alles von Reis über frisches Gemüse bis hin zu gedünstetem Fisch, Fröschen und allem anderen, was der Tagesfang sein könnte, verkaufen, sind einfach auf dem Boden aufgestellt. Wir kehren zu Ihrer Unterkunft zurück und haben bis 8:30 Uhr Zeit zum Frühstück.
Der zweite Teil dieser Tour beginnt im Riverview Park an der Spitze der Halbinsel. Sie erhalten eine kurze Einführung in Luang Prabang, wo der Fluss Nam Khan auf den Mekong trifft. Von dort laufen Sie zum berühmten Tempel Wat Xieng Thong.
Wat Xiengthong galt als zeremonielles Tor zur Stadt und war jahrhundertelang der Ankunfts- und Abreisepunkt für ausländische Würdenträger. Wir gehen die Treppe zum Haupttor hinauf und betreten den Tempel wie antike Würdenträger. Wat Xieng Thong, einst bekannt als „Der Tempel der Goldenen Stadt“, ist von großer kultureller, historischer und architektonischer Bedeutung. Es liegt ruhig nahe der Spitze der Halbinsel am Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Mekong und Nam Khan, mit einer großen Treppe, die vom Mekong hinaufführt. (Eintrittsgebühr 30.000 Kip)
Als nächstes werden wir Tempelhüpfen in der Nachbarschaft machen. Im Wat Sene, wo es eine Schule für Novizen gibt, können Sie sich wieder mit Novizen treffen, die Sie bei den morgendlichen Almosen getroffen haben. Der Tempel wurde 1718 von König Kitsarath mit 100.000 Steinen aus dem Mekong erbaut. Es bedeutet wörtlich "Tempel der 100.000 Schätze"
[Das Museum ist jeden letzten Donnerstag im Monat geschlossen und kann nicht besichtigt werden] Abschließend besuchen wir den Königspalast. Der Königspalast, der heute das Nationalmuseum ist und zwischen 1904 und 1909 von französischen Kolonialherren erbaut wurde, zeigt eine schöne Sammlung von Artefakten, die den Reichtum der laotischen Kultur widerspiegeln. (Eintrittsgebühr 60.000 Kip) Die Tour endet im Stadtzentrum oder Sie werden zu Ihrem Hotel gebracht.
Die Tour endet mit einem Aufstieg auf den Phousi Hill. Wenn Sie sich im Zentrum der Stadt auf 150 m Höhe erheben, genießen Sie einen spektakulären 360-Grad-Blick über die Stadt und ihre vielen Tempel sowie über die umliegende Landschaft bis zu den Bergen in der Ferne. (Eintrittsgebühr 30.000 Kip)

We have done a number of short tours recently, but this one was the best. Mr Boun was an amazing tour guide...he was friendly, helpful and had great knowledge that he imparted on us as the tour progressed. It was never rushed, but also never dragged. The pace was perfect. The tour covered a range of activities and even when going through the local markets he told us a great deal about all the different ingredients and also gave us advice about not buying the pairs of 'lucky birds' in little cages to set free, because all that did was encourage people to go out and catch them again the next day. We learnt a lot of little things that never appear in guide books. I could never commend Mr Boun too highly and happily recommend him to everyone.
I enjoyed this tour. Mornimg alms was a fairly quick but good spiritual experience, which felt fairly authentic! The trip through the market also had the right amount of time committed to it. And the climb up to the viewpoint was done before our breakfast pause, which was appreciated before the crowds and heat built up. After breakfast, the visit to the King's Palace was well paced, as was the temple tour. Ended just after midday but i think that is adequate after such an early start, and i felt satisfied that i had seen enough of what Luang Prabang has to offer! Tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable, but a little difficult to understand at times. Worth doing.
Very interesting, the ceremony of ailmentar the monks with food dadives (majority rice). After we climbed a sacred mountain, we visited temples and royal palace. Very interesting. Very good guide

Just the experience of sharing food with the monks in the morning is worth the whole tour. It is a unique experience that brings peace... The guide, Mr. Vone was kind and agency throughout the time he was with me, always sharing history and knowledge. Despite being alone, which was very kind from the agency, I felt super comfortable. I recommend everyone the experience and the guide. It will be several hours of knowledge and fun through the city.
It was a very interesting and informative tour of Luang Prabang, even if only 4 hours were planned for it. My guide knew a lot about the historical background of the various landmarks we visited. I can recommend this tour at any time.

I enjoyed the tour but am extremely frustrated by the fact that I have emailed the tour operator 3 times in 24 hours asking for them to check the van for my missing expensive sunglasses that I was wearing just before ending the tour. I even sent them this photo and they are ignoring me!!!
Hi kdvsimard, thank you for joining our Luang Prabang city tour — and I’m truly sorry for the frustration this has caused. When you first reported the missing sunglasses on Feb 22, 2026 (6:32 PM), our office replied on the Viator chat at 6:46 PM (“Yes, we’ll check”) and we immediately informed our team to search the van and check with the driver. Unfortunately, the sunglasses were not found during that search. That said, your main point is completely fair: after you sent the photo and followed up again the next morning and afternoon, we should have replied. Not responding to three messages is unprofessional. This happened because the conversation was not properly escalated to a supervisor, and I take responsibility for that oversight as the manager. We are checking again today with the driver and our storage/lost-and-found area, and we will message you through the Viator/Tripadvisor channel with the outcome even if we still cannot locate them. Again, I’m sorry for the lack of communication. You deserved a timely, empathetic response, regardless of whether the item was found.
We went on the tour with our guide Mr. Boun. He is not only very charismatic, smart and kind, but actually also a former monk, which really elevated the experience to a whole new level. DO NOT SKIP the aims ceremony (followed by the morning market tour and a climb to Phousi Hill), as these are the best parts of the tour !
