Peter was hands-down one of the BEST guides we’ve EVER had!!

Peter was hands-down one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. The man is a walking Asheville encyclopedia. Having a former history teacher as a guide made such a difference because every stop came with incredible stories, context, and details that made the city feel alive instead of just “here’s a building, moving on.” Civilization occasionally gets something right. What really made the experience special was how flexible and personal he made the tour. He genuinely wanted it to fit us, not some canned script he’s repeated a thousand times. You can tell he absolutely LOVES Asheville and is deeply passionate about sharing it with people. He took us to hidden gems we never would have discovered on our own, including a super cool festival that just happened to be going on that day. Instead of sticking rigidly to an itinerary like a stressed airport shuttle driver, he leaned into the moment and made the day even better. Peter was also incredibly personable and generous with sharing his own stories and experiences, which made the whole tour feel authentic and memorable. The fact that he even texted us the next day to let us know about another local event says everything about how much he cares about his guests having a great experience. Could not recommend him more highly. If you’re touring Asheville, book Peter. Your future self will look back smugly at all the tourists wandering around with folded maps and regret.

Relaxing and enjoyable

Our travel guide Peter gave us the option of either going to grandfather Mountain or exploring places closer to Asheville. We decided to do the Asheville area, which was amazing. We got a whole history tour of downtown Asheville. We went to two wineries and a brewery. He was so knowledgeable and very friendly. I would totally recommend this tour with Peter.

HORRIBLE - Do Not take this tour

My spouse booked this as a private tour for my bday on Friday Nov 7th. We were called a few days before and told we could either keep this itinerary but couldn't be on my bday or we could switch itineraries and share the van with another couple. We were very disappointed but Rob assured us the new itinerary had 3 vineyards with the first 2 having tasting that were more involved and the last vineyard had the most spectacular sunset views where we could buy wine and enjoy. We went ahead and switched--the $500 price stayed the same even though it was no longer private. So we were picked up and my partner is 6'5 so we had to cram into the very back of the van because the other couple had the middle row, but we went with it. The tour for over 2 hours consisted of us being told how devastated the area was with the remains from the hurricane. At one point I texted my spouse(so Rob wouldn't hear me) and asked him to please have Rob stop with the negativity and gloom because it was such a downer. Anyway we made it to the first winery and were greeted by staff telling us that they tried to call Rob to cancel our stop because they had no water. So now we continued on and he found another winery to stop at. It was fine and the views/staff were o.k. but we were told we had to either sit at the tables inside or on the patio. We could not sit at the tables that were beautiful and surrounded the vineyard like the other customers because it was too far for the staff. Now back in the van for another hour at least and the next vineyard. We were greeted by a lady behind the bar saying I hope y'all don't want a tasting because I am the only one here. So of course we had to get our included tasting which she slammed 8 glasses on our table and told us to drink them in order and look at the paper to see what we were drinking. So we were so ready for the last stop and thought yes we can end on a positive note. NO-We were greeted by a person outside who told us there was a wedding going on and for us to not walk anywhere but the parking lot because we would be in their pictures. We were allowed to buy a bottle of wine which the 4 of us did and drank it while standing on the edge of the parking lot to try and make the best of it. So we made it back to the hotel by 7:30pm and we all decided it was just not a good experience at all and felt like they wasted their anniversary and I definitely wasted my birthday. I don't know if the owner of the tour knows that any of this happened, but he should. There was no plan with these wineries and we should have hired a driver to take us from vineyard to vineyard for a lot less.

Hi, sorry you had a bad experience, however to say it was horrible and telling others not to take it, is absolutely unnecessary. I read other reviews you have left and it seems like you are a critical person in general. How is it that others have the same experience and love it, yet you claim it was horrible. Now occasionally we may ask our guests to double up if we are busy, and everyone has loved it and even made new friends and enjoyed each others company. If you can’t make a great experience out of great wine, great views, lovely weather, and enjoy your company, then perhaps wine tours just aren’t for you. After speaking with Rob , he made the best out of the situation as much as he could, and after the hurricane, some things are just out of our control. Have a blessed one

Rob was awesome , friendly, knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to make your day great. I really have no complaints about Rob but for the money spent I think he needs to upgrade his van or Atleast have it detailed and fix the window.

Hi Judi! Thank you for the great review ! I will let Rob know but just so you know, the money you spent is not the money he earns. After 3rd party commission, wine tastings, the tour operator , and his gas expense, he earns a lot less than you may think, so please don’t see it that way :)

Rob was such a nice guy! He allowed us to go off the grid instead of following a schedule. It was a fun day

What a great way to spend a day around the Asheville's area.

We had a fabulous day at 3 wineries! Rob was a knowledgeable and friendly driver. He showed us around the cute towns around Asheville and shared lots of information about the area. Highly suggest this day trip!

Good idea but needs overhaul

First part of tour of Linville Falls Winery was very good. Great location with nice patio overseeing the vineyards and tree farm. Plenty of different wines to try out. Second part of tour - visit to a cider maker and Little Switzerland was waste of time. While cider maker had a couple of interesting ciders, the location was out in the middle of the woods and doubled as a small rustic camping spot. Little Switzerland basically consists of two buildings housing a small eatery and three stores. Appears to be a popular spot for motorcyclists, but should not be a main part of a wine and dine tour. Also, there was no “dine” component of this tour. Charcuterie was available at winery, and sandwiches at the eatery in Little Switzerland. 5/5 Stars for our driver Logan, however, as he amiable, flexible and helped keep the experience interesting.

Thank you for the feedback, as we are using this feedback to make the necessary changes for a better experience. After speaking with Logan as well we are replacing the 2nd location.
