Die alte, von Mauern umgebene Stadt Girona liegt auf einem festungsartigen Hügel hoch über dem Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Onyar und Ter. Als Provinzhauptstadt hat sie eine lange und bedeutende Geschichte. Von den Iberern gegründet, nannten die Römer es später Gerunda und errichteten es als wichtigen Haltepunkt an der Via Augusta, die Iberia mit Rom verband. Die riesige Kathedrale aus dem 15. Jahrhundert mit dem breitesten, nicht abgestützten gotischen Bogen der Welt dominiert die Skyline. Ein Großteil der Attraktivität der Stadt liegt jedoch in der Erkundung der mittelalterlichen Straßen, insbesondere des bezaubernden jüdischen Viertels. Über die von Gustave Eiffel erbaute Brücke "Pont de les Peixeteries Velles", eines der bevölkerungsreichsten Denkmäler der Stadt, können Sie den Onyar überqueren. I came by train from Barcelona for the day. Caroline was informative and entertaining and impressed me with her wide knowledge. She provided a lot of facts but ensured it remained interesting. The 2.5 hours passed quickly.
Always do one of these walking tours when we go to a new place. Great way to learn about an area. Ona, our guide, was knowledgeable, clever, witty and a great source of information. We would definitely recommend it.
Ona was our tour guide, very friendly and informative. There was only the two of us booked on this tour so we were able to have some good conversations about the history around Girona and some general Catalan and Spanish culture. The tour was a great start to our short stay in the city and helped really get a feel for the history and significance of the City and get our bearings for exploring ourselves the rest of the evening and next day.

We made a city walk in Girona with Neska as a guide, she uses her Ipad to show how it used to be compared to now, she speaks good English and because we were the only 2 of the group she could also answer questions we asked, had nice conversations and finally had a drink with each other
