Elephant Orphanage (David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust): Rettung und Rehabilitation verwaister Elefanten: Das Elephant Orphanage widmet sich der Rettung und Rehabilitation verwaister Elefanten, von denen viele ihre Eltern durch Wilderei verloren haben. Es pflegt sie, bis sie alt genug sind, um wieder in die Wildnis entlassen zu werden.

Der David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT), auch bekannt als Elefantenwaisenhaus, befindet sich in Nairobi, Kenia. Es ist eines der bekanntesten Elefantenschutzgebiete der Welt und widmet sich der Rettung und Rehabilitation verwaister Elefanten, die oft Opfer von Wilderei werden. Sobald die Elefanten gepflegt und rehabilitiert sind, werden sie schließlich wieder in die Wildnis entlassen. Wichtige Highlights: Lage: Im Nairobi-Nationalpark. Besuchererlebnis: Besucher können Elefantenbabys beim Füttern und Spielen in Schlammbädern beobachten. Das Waisenhaus bietet täglich am späten Vormittag, normalerweise gegen 11 Uhr, eine öffentliche Besichtigung an. Adoptionsprogramm: Besucher können einen Elefanten „adoptieren“, was zu seiner Pflege und Rehabilitation beiträgt. Das Giraffe Centre in Lang'ata, Nairobi, ist ein Naturschutz- und Bildungszentrum zum Schutz der gefährdeten Rothschild-Giraffe. We had a great time feeding the giraffes and learning about the orphaned elephants. Our driver, Lucas, did a great job of communicating with us upon booking and then leading up to the trip. Lucas was also fabulous the day of the event, giving us a driving tour of Nairobi, and even went out of his way to show us some areas of the city that we were interested in seeing that were not specifically included in the tour. He was willing and able to answer all of our questions and was a really fabulous guide!
This tour was great and informative. It was great to have the chance to see wildlife from close range. The giraffe centre gives a chance to feed and take pictures but be careful not to get too close. Elephant orphanage is a beauty. I totally recommend to anyone visiting nairobi

This was an amazing experience and the guides are great and detailed. Pick up was at 8 a.m as agreed and Lucas was very reliable in communication. The giraffe centre was mind blowing. It was great to feed the giants. Elephant orphanage offered a unique experience. It important to be early to get the front row and a chance to touch the baby elephants like we did. Thank you Lucas.

Guides showed up over an hour late in a beat up old car. They were both sick and now so am I. We missed half the elephant orphanage experience because they didn’t understand what tickets to buy. No bottled water as advertised. Not a good experience.
This review is totally uncalled for and misleading. If anything, we believe we gave you a 5 star experience as that is what we pride in. All our guides are healthy and have health insurance. All the best for the future
The guides showed up over an hour late in an old tiny beat up car. They were both extremely sick and of course a few days later I have caught it and it’s ruining the rest of my vacation. The guides clearly have never been to the giraffe center or elephant orphanage. They were confused about timing and tickets. We ended up missing half of the elephant orphanage experience because they didn’t understand what tickets to purchase. Not a good experience at all. They specialize in touring Kibera only.

What a great day, visiting the centers that care for giraffes and elephants. We were able to feed the giraffes and join in the lovefest for the elephants.
