An excellent tour, our guide Tatsuya was very knowledgeable and engaging. At the outset of the tour, he asked us what our interests were about Kyoto and Japan, this allowed us to have a more tailored experience to our interests. Being a former history teacher, Tatsuya did an amazing job explaining the history of the Kyoto temples and shrines, and the beliefs of Shintoism and Buddhism. The walk around the quiet roads and alleyways of the Gion District was very interesting, and it was fascinating learning the history of the area and practices of the Geisha. We especially liked participating in a short meditation in the shadow of the oldest Zen Buddhist temple in Japan. All in all it was a great tour and highly recommended.
