Bei diesem Stopp tauchen wir in die faszinierende Geschichte Tahitis ein und stellen Kapitän Bougainville sowie die anderen Entdecker und Missionare vor, die in der Vergangenheit der Insel eine entscheidende Rolle spielten. Wir erkunden die Heldentaten dieser Abenteurer, die als erste tahitianischen Boden betraten, und decken die Auswirkungen ihrer Begegnungen mit den Ureinwohnern auf.
Hier tauchen die Besucher in die historischen und zeitgenössischen Dynamiken der politischen Systeme Tahitis ein und erkunden die Rollen von Häuptlingen, Monarchen und Regierungen in verschiedenen Epochen der Geschichte. Wir werden die Komplexität der Machtdynamik, diplomatischen Beziehungen und Entscheidungsprozesse aufdecken, die Tahitis politische Landschaft geprägt haben.
Bei diesem Stopp tauchen wir in die faszinierende Religionsgeschichte Tahitis ein und konzentrieren uns dabei insbesondere auf die berühmte katholische Kathedrale von Papeete. Wir werden die Ankunft des Protestantismus und dann des Christentums auf den Inseln erforschen und ihre Wurzeln von den ersten Begegnungen mit europäischen Missionaren bis zur Gründung formeller religiöser Institutionen wie der katholischen Kathedrale verfolgen.
An unserem nächsten Ziel tauchen wir in die lebendige Atmosphäre des Papeete-Marktes ein, einem geschäftigen Zentrum voller Aktivitäten, wo Besucher verschiedene Bereiche erkunden können, die die Vielfalt der tahitianischen Kultur zeigen. Während wir durch die verschiedenen Bereiche des Marktes schlendern, darunter insbesondere den Blumenmarkt, den Kunsthandwerkermarkt und den Lebensmittelmarkt, erleben die Besucher eine Sinnesreise wie keine andere.
An unserem letzten Halt bestaunen wir die majestätische Schönheit des Rathauses von Papeete, ein Paradebeispiel der Kolonialarchitektur der Insel. We had torrential downpour and no cell service so had difficulty meeting Pauline on time. And the forecast was for worsening weather so she allowed us to get a refund since we were only here for one day. And yet she did some out in the torrential rain. A very interesting visit from a cultural point of view. A visit to make rather in the morning or late morning to enjoy the monuments of the course.

This is a Must Do if you have 2 hrs to spare in Pape’ete. You will learn so much about Tahiti and French Polynesia, it will be the best 2 hrs you’ll spend in FP. You’ll learn so much about Pape’ete and FP it will give you a much better understanding of where you are vacationing . Pauline was great at showing her love for her county and people it comes through on the tour. We had 10 hrs to kill in Pape’ete so I picked this tour the last minute to fill some time. It turned out to be one of the best things I did on our 11 days in FP (and possibly the cheapest). We did it at the end of our stay but I’d recommend doing it as soon as you can so you can have the knowledge for the rest of your time in FP, no matter how little it may be. I loved the gardens at the rear of the government building. The tour starts 1 block south of the ferry terminal, NOT at the ferry terminal.

This is a great learning experience and inspiring tour! Our tour guide, Pauline, a local, was fantastic and extremely informative about Tahiti, French Polynesia and its history/culture. Pauline had a very organized walking plan of the area plus included bathroom and water bottle refill breaks. I was so pleased that I told a family about this tour at my hotel, the Intercontinental, the next day. This was well worth the time and money and is a must-do for anyone who wants to learn and enjoy Tahiti!
