Besuchen Sie Vergina (oder Aige auf Altgriechisch), das nur 82 km von Thessaloniki entfernt in Zentralmakedonien liegt. Vergina ist UNESCO-Kulturerbe, wo Sie unter anderem das schön erhaltene Grab von König Philipp II. (Vater Alexanders des Großen) und das Grab von Alexander IV. (Sohn Alexanders des Großen) sehen können. Dann besuchen Sie die Stadt Veria, schlendern durch die schmalen erhaltenen Viertel, sehen den Altar des Apostels Paulus, besuchen die Orta-Moschee und überprüfen die älteste Synagoge auf dem Balkan. Außerdem haben Sie freie Zeit zum Mittagessen in einer der vielen Tavernen von Veria und kehren am Nachmittag nach Thessaloniki zurück.

Die archäologische Stätte von Aige (Vergina) beherbergt die Königsgräber der makedonischen Könige, darunter das von König Philipp II., Vater von Alexander dem Großen. Besucher können den beeindruckenden Tumulus erkunden, der diese antiken Gräber bedeckt, wo lebendige Fresken, Skulpturen und reiche Grabbeigaben die Erhabenheit der mazedonischen Königsfamilie offenbaren. Das neue Museum in Vergina zeigt bemerkenswerte Entdeckungen, darunter die goldene Larnax und andere königliche Schätze. Die Exponate widmen sich der Epoche Philipps II. und Alexanders des Großen und bieten einen tiefen Einblick in die mazedonische Geschichte. Mit Sonderausstellungen und laufender Forschung können Besucher bei jedem Besuch neue Erkenntnisse erforschen und neue Erkenntnisse gewinnen.
Die Jüdische Synagoge in Veroia, Griechenland, ist ein wunderschön erhaltenes Wahrzeichen im historischen jüdischen Viertel. Es wurde im 19. Jahrhundert erbaut und ist ein Zeugnis der einst blühenden sephardischen jüdischen Gemeinde. Die Synagoge verfügt über traditionelle Architektur, darunter eine Holzlade und einen Frauenbalkon. Wenn das Hotel aufgrund von Einschränkungen nicht mit dem Auto erreichbar ist, wird die Abholung von einem nahe gelegenen Standort, der nur wenige Gehminuten entfernt ist, durchgeführt. Kreuzfahrtschiffreisende: Treffpunkt ist der Ausgang des Kreuzfahrthafenterminals. Ihr Fahrer wird eine Namenstafel mit dem Namen der Reisenden halten.

Johannes (John) and Gina were wonderful guides who took us to the Royal Tombs and then we walked up the hill to see the ruins of the Palace of Phillip II (Father of Alexander the Great). It was 20€ each to see both the tombs and the museum, so we went to both - 45 min each. The guides told us so much history along the way. They also walked with us in Veria, showing us the major sights of Paul (we saw Paul's alter, the Jewish synagogue, the mosque/museum, and the newer Paul church - under renovation). We also had time to grab a bite to eat and souvenirs. It was a great day. Lots of walking too.

The tip was great!! We had a great time seeing the tombs in Vergina. It was really cool to see slights of the apostle Paul in Veria. My only complaint is that we could not find our guides after the museum but we did find them back in the car. Definitely recommend.

Vergina was amazing – the Macedonian royal tombs and museum are a must-see, so atmospheric and full of history. Veria city was quieter but charming, with nice stops like the Apostle Paul’s Tribune and a chance to enjoy coffee in a local square. Also, Pella was fascinating – walking through the ancient city ruins and seeing the beautiful mosaics really made the history of Alexander the Great’s hometown come alive. Perfect mix of history and relaxation!

Almost tailor-made hike. The museum opened at 12.00 so we agreed to do the route in reverse. Very interesting both museums visited in particular the royal tombs. Very good our guide. Knowing also the Italian we could easily communicate with him despite the tour being in English. They picked us up and brought us back in front of the passenger terminal ...

This was an excellent choice for us. Good web site, prompt responses and flexible options. We added one way transfer to Meteora instead of a round trip back to Thessaloniki. It was a full day - Vergina and a stop for lunch at the base of Mt Olympus. Then we continued on to Kastriki to our next hotel. Dimitris our guide/driver was really excellent. We had interesting and entertaining conversations the entire way - which is pretty amazing given the length of the day. We definitely recommend booking with this company. And don't miss the Royal tombs at Vergina. It was one of our favorites on a four week trip full of great sights.

The Royal Tombs at Vergina are truly spectacular and well worth your time and money to visit. The new Aigio Museum is also very interesting, though I would have liked more information on the individual artifacts on display. This tour was a convenient and well-organized experience—everything was handled very professionally. The van was clean and comfortable and our guide Stella was delightful. Highly recommended experience for anyone visiting Thessaloniki.
