Das Kloster Santa Maria da Vitória, auch Batalha-Kloster genannt, ist zweifellos eines der schönsten Werke portugiesischer und europäischer Architektur. Dieses außergewöhnliche architektonische Ensemble entstand aus der Erfüllung eines Versprechens von König D. João I. aus Dankbarkeit für den Sieg in Aljubarrota, einer Schlacht am 14. August 1385, die den Thron sicherte und die Unabhängigkeit Portugals garantierte. Die Arbeiten dauerten mehr als 150 Jahre und dauerten mehrere Bauphasen. Diese Dauer rechtfertigt in seinen künstlerischen Vorschlägen die Existenz manuelinischer (vorherrschender) gotischer Lösungen und einer kurzen Renaissance-Note. Im ersten Projekt wurden mehrere Ergänzungen eingeführt, was zu einem riesigen Klosterensemble führte, das derzeit eine Kirche, zwei Kreuzgänge mit Nebengebäuden und zwei königliche Pantheons, die Gründerkapelle und die unvollkommenen Kapellen umfasst. Nationaldenkmal, seit 1983 Teil der von der UNESCO definierten Welterbeliste.
Erstaunliche natürliche Höhlen
Das Heiligtum von Fátima, das von der katholischen Kirche als Heiligtum Unserer Lieben Frau vom Rosenkranz von Fátima bezeichnet wird, ist ein Marienheiligtum, das Unserer Lieben Frau von Fátima gewidmet ist und sich in Cova da Iria in der Stadt Fátima befindet. Das Heiligtum von Fátima ist schlechthin ein Ort christlicher Pilgerfahrt und katholischer Hingabe, das die Erinnerung an die Ereignisse bewahrt, die zu seiner Gründung geführt haben, nämlich die Erscheinungen Unserer Lieben Frau an die drei Hirten - Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco und Jacinta Marto - 1917 ist seine Größe und Relevanz aus religiöser Sicht seit langem national und international weithin anerkannt. Es ist auch eines der wichtigsten marianischen Heiligtümer der Welt und ein wichtiges internationales Ziel für den religiösen Tourismus, das jährlich rund sechs Millionen Besucher empfängt. Er wurde mit drei päpstlichen Goldrosen ausgezeichnet und von den Päpsten Paulo VI. (1967), João Paulo II. (1982, 1991 und 2000), Benedikt XVI. (2010) und Francisco (2017) besucht. Der Bau begann 1919.

We used Antonio twice during our stay and found him to be excellent. He went over and above to assist us in every way. His tours were amazing showing us areas not on the typical tourist map. His vehicle was comfortable and he supplied water bottles all day. He was very generous with his time and best of all pointed out bathroom stops at every sight we visited. 10/10 for us!

We did a shorter tour, but that was the charm of it, that we took our time for each place we were at. Antonio was a great guide, and the organization was impeccable. This tour was a highlight of my month stay in Portugal. So happy I found Antonio. As a solo traveler, this was an excellent adventure and I was able to visit some extraordinary places. I highly recommend him to solo and small group travelers. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

Omg. The entire day was amazing. Antonio, our guide was so kind and knowledgeable. He made the day very special. The gardens with Buddha are just spectacular. The caves are unbelievable. I would highly highly highly recommend this tour with Antonio. Please request him.

We had a wonderful full day trip with Antonio. Due to forest fire warning in the area we couldn’t do the planned trip, but luckily Antonio has a plan b, which frankly seemed to be even better :)

The trip was so very well organized. Antonio gave us a choice of several stops that had different things to see and visit. Once we made the selections we were off. He took a lot of backroads which had stunning scenery and avoiding traffic jams. Lunch was delicious. Great restaurant with lovely servers! We visited Obidos and walked along the moors castle then took a stroll thru medieval streets. Off to batalha monastery. Beautiful cathedral. Visited Fatima sanctuary and final stop Nazare. This location has beautiful beaches. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommend António!

This place is huge and a bit overwhelming. I like the fact that you can you for hourse just gazing at amazing stuff. No need for the train though. Also I would like more guidance - digital - when cruising.
Sintra roads were closed so we were able to reschedule different venues for the day. It was lovely to see other areas of the beautiful countryside

Thanks to Antonio, we were able to visit Nazaré and its surroundings in a very pleasant and comfortable way. All his explanations concerning the places visited brought us a better knowledge of Portugal both culturally, economically and socially. We visited places we would never have gone alone I think.
