Der Swayambhunath-Tempel, der der Welt als Affentempel bekannt ist, ist sowohl für die Anhänger der hinduistischen als auch der buddhistischen Religion von Bedeutung. Es hat einen hohen konischen Turm, der aus Kupfer gefertigt und vergoldet ist. Lord Buddhas Augen sind auf allen vier Seiten des Turmfußes angebracht. Von seiner Spitze aus kann man die 360-Grad-Ansicht des gesamten Kathmandutals sehen, was eine sensationelle, atemberaubende Begegnung ist.
Der Pashupatinath Tempel ist symbolisch, göttlich und einer der heiligsten hinduistischen Tempel, die Lord Shiva in Kathmandu gewidmet sind. Es liegt am Ufer des Flusses Baghmati. Menschen aus der ganzen Welt sammeln sie in großer Zahl, um ihren Respekt zu zollen und Segen für die Erlösung zu erhalten. Der Tempelhof enthält verschiedene andere kleine Tempel, die verschiedenen hinduistischen Göttern und Göttinnen gewidmet sind. Der Bouddhanath Stupa ist einer der größten Stupas in Südasien, der vom tibetischen Buddhismus beeinflusst wird. Es ist eine weiß getünchte Kuppel, die mit den allsehenden Augen Buddhas bemalt ist. Dies ist eine symbolträchtige Struktur, die die Menschen an Buddhas Weg zur Erleuchtung erinnert. Dieser heilige Hof beherbergt fünfzig weitere tibetische Klöster. Man kann Einblicke in die Kunst und Architektur des alten Nepals und Tibets gewinnen, die inspirierend und unvergesslich sind.
Der Kathmandu Durbar Square ist das traditionelle Herz der Stadt und das spektakulärste Erbe traditioneller Architektur in Kathmandu. Der Kathmandu-Platz stammt aus dem 17. und 18. Jahrhundert. Das Gebiet um den Durbar Square ist ein Zusammenfluss von drei lose miteinander verbundenen Plätzen, dem Basantapur Square, dem Gebiet um den Durbar Square und dem Eingangspunkt zum Hanuman Dhoka mit einer Ansammlung von Tempeln in geringer Entfernung.

A fun, interesting and flexible (private) day in Kathmandu. The city has loads to offer and our guide Umesh made it all accessible. My wife and I really appreciate the flexibility of private as we often wish to shorten, lengthen or otherwise change the itinerary. On this occasion, for example, we engaged our guide to help us find a tailor and negotiate for the sewing of some bespoke shirts. It all makes the city so much more accessible!
