Der Königspalast ist eines der Wahrzeichen von Phnom Penh. Der Bau begann 1886, nachdem König Norodom die königliche Hauptstadt nach Phnom Penh verlegt hatte, und wurde vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg fertiggestellt. Bis heute ist der Palast der Hauptwohnsitz von Phnom Penh Der König von Kambodscha.
Die wunderschöne Silberpagode befindet sich neben dem Königspalast in Phnom Penh. Mit seinem wunderschönen Garten ist es ein perfekter Rückzugsort von den geschäftigen Straßen der Hauptstadt Kambodschas. Das Innere der Pagode ist ebenso beeindruckend, da unzählige handgefertigte Silberfliesen den Boden bedecken. Die Pagode ist auch als Tempel des Smaragd-Buddha bekannt, da die primäre Buddha-Statue aus Smaragd- oder Baccarat-Kristall besteht.
Das Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum ist ein Museum in Phnom Penh, der Hauptstadt von Kambodscha, das den kambodschanischen Genozid dokumentiert. Es handelt sich um eine ehemalige Sekundarschule, die vom Regime der Roten Khmer von 1975 bis 1979 als Sicherheitsgefängnis 21 (S-21) genutzt wurde. Von 1976 bis 1979 waren in Tuol schätzungsweise 20.000 Menschen inhaftiert Sleng (die reale Zahl ist unbekannt). Tuol Sleng bedeutet "Hügel der giftigen Bäume" oder "Strychnine Hill". Tuol Sleng war nur eines von mindestens 150 Folter- und Hinrichtungszentren, die von den Roten Khmer eingerichtet wurden, obwohl andere Quellen die Zahl auf 196 Gefängniszentren bezifferten. Am 26. Juli 2010 verurteilten die außerordentlichen Kammern der kambodschanischen Gerichte den Chef des Tuol-Sleng-Gefängnisses, Kang Kek Iew (alias Duch), wegen Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit und schwerwiegender Verstöße gegen die Genfer Konventionen von 1949 zu lebenslanger Haft
In Choeung Ek befindet sich etwa 17 Kilometer südlich von Phnom Penh, Kambodscha, ein ehemaliger Obstgarten und ein Massengrab für Opfer der Roten Khmer, die zwischen 1975 und 1979 getötet wurden. Es ist die bekannteste der als „Killing Fields“ bekannten Orte, an denen das Regime der Roten Khmer zwischen 1975 und 1979 über eine Million Menschen hinrichtete. Nach dem Sturz des Regimes der Roten Khmer wurden in Choeung Ek Massengräber mit 8.895 Leichen entdeckt. Bei vielen der Toten handelte es sich um ehemalige politische Gefangene, die von den Roten Khmer in ihrem Internierungslager Tuol Sleng und in anderen kambodschanischen Internierungslagern festgehalten wurden. Heute ist Choeung Ek ein Denkmal, das durch einen buddhistischen Stupa gekennzeichnet ist. Die Stupa hat Seiten aus Acrylglas und ist mit mehr als 5.000 menschlichen Schädeln gefüllt. Einige der unteren Ebenen sind tagsüber geöffnet, sodass die Schädel direkt zu sehen sind. Viele wurden zerschmettert oder eingeschlagen.
Wat Phnom: Wat Phnom liegt auf einem 27 m hohen, baumbewachsenen Hügel und ist der einzige Hügel der Stadt. Der Legende nach wurde die erste Pagode an dieser Stelle 1373 errichtet, um vier Buddha-Statuen zu beherbergen, die hier am Wasser des Mekong deponiert und von einer Frau namens Penh entdeckt wurden. Der Haupteingang zum Wat Phnom erfolgt über die große östliche Treppe, die von Löwen und Balustraden der Naga (Schlange) bewacht wird.

Das Unabhängigkeitsdenkmal in Phnom Penh, der Hauptstadt von Kambodscha, wurde 1958 errichtet, um an die Unabhängigkeit Kambodschas von Frankreich im Jahr 1953 zu erinnern. Wat Ounalom ist ein weiteres der fünf ursprünglichen Klöster von Phnom Penh (1422). es beherbergte das Institut Bouddhique und die Bibliothek. Am Flussufer, etwa 250 Meter nördlich des Königspalastes, gegenüber dem Fluss Tonle Sap in der Nähe des Königspalastes, dient diese Pagode als Hauptquartier für einen der am meisten verehrten buddhistischen Patriarchen Kambodschas. I.am incredibly disappointed with this trip, especially considering how expensive it was. It felt less like a premium experience and more like a cash grab. The Guide: While they weren't rude, their delivery was incredibly monotone and so quiet that half the group couldn't even hear them. It made the entire itinerary feel tedious rather than engaging. The "Restaurant" Trap: The description states that the tour takes you to a restaurant, but it conveniently omits the fact that absolutely nothing is included—you have to pay for everything out of pocket. The Real Issue: If I am paying for my own meal, I want the freedom to choose where I eat. Instead, we were funneled into a specific spot where it felt blatantly obvious the tour company was getting a kickback/backhander for bringing in captive customers. Save your money. Between the lackluster guiding and the forced, overpriced lunch stop, this tour is absolutely not worth the high price tag.

Knowledgeable tour guide with great transportation. Mr. Tukk was very knowledgeable about each site we visited. We traveled with a group of 14 and he was super patient working with the group, answered a variety of questions and kept us on schedule to see all of the sites on our itinerary within a reasonable amount of time.
