Dieses von Kengo Kuma entworfene Touristenzentrum ist nicht nur eine wertvolle Quelle für Informationen zu Sehenswürdigkeiten, sondern auch eine der neuesten Sehenswürdigkeiten von Asakusa. Dieses 8-stöckige Gebäude, das von einem weltberühmten japanischen Architekten entworfen wurde, hat eine sehr auffällige Struktur mit dem Aussehen eines Stapels separater Holzgebäude, die in verschiedenen Winkeln übereinander gestapelt zu sein scheinen. Von der Aussichtsplattform auf der offenen Terrasse im 8. Stock des Zentrums erhalten Sie eine Vorschau auf den gesamten Tourkurs: nicht nur Tokyo Sky Tree und Asahi Flame, die wir gerade gesehen haben, sondern auch die Sehenswürdigkeiten, die wir sehen werden, einschließlich Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise Einkaufsstraße, Hozomon-Tor, Sensoji-Tempel und mehr.
Wenn Sie sich dem Sensoji-Tempel nähern, betreten Sie zuerst den Kaminarimon (Donnertor), das äußere Tor des Sensoji-Tempels und das Wahrzeichen von Asakusa sowie die gesamte Stadt Tokio. Sensoji (浅 浅 草, Sensōji, auch bekannt als Asakusa Kannon Tempel) ist ein buddhistischer Tempel in Asakusa. Es ist einer der farbenfrohsten und beliebtesten Tempel in Tokio. Die Legende besagt, dass im Jahr 628 zwei Brüder eine Statue von Kannon, der Göttin der Barmherzigkeit, aus dem Sumida-Fluss fischten und obwohl sie die Statue wieder in den Fluss steckten, kehrte sie immer zu ihnen zurück. Infolgedessen wurde Sensoji in der Nähe für die Göttin von Kannon gebaut. Der Tempel wurde 645 fertiggestellt und ist damit Tokios ältester Tempel.
Der Sumida Park befindet sich in der Nähe des Bahnhofs Asakusa und entlang des Sumida-Flusses, von wo aus Sie einen atemberaubenden Blick auf Tokyo Skytree haben. Besonders schön ist die Landschaft zu Kirschblütenzeiten. Der Park ist offen und es macht sehr viel Spaß, herumzulaufen. Es hat Anlegestellen für beliebte Wasserbusse, die den Sumida River und die Tokyo Bay bereisen. Der Park ist Teil der Sumida River Terrace, einer Promenade entlang des Sumida River.
Shibuya-Überquerung in der Nähe der Shibuya-Station wird von bis zu 500.000 Menschen pro Tag überquert, und zu Spitzenzeiten überqueren bis zu 3.000 Menschen an einer grünen Ampel! Für Japaner, die es gewohnt sind, diese Ansicht zu sehen, ist dies kein Wunder, aber Touristen scheinen erstaunt zu sein, dass es jedem gelingt, zu überqueren, ohne sich anzustoßen. Es gibt immer Leute, die vor Ort sind, um diese Kreuzung zu sehen. Shibuya Crossing ist neben dem New Yorker Times Square eine der „berühmtesten Kreuzungen der Welt“.
Seine Lage zwischen zwei der größten Einkaufsviertel Tokios, Harajuku und Shibuya, macht es zu einem idealen Laufsteg für fabelhafte Trendsetter der 20- und 30-Jährigen. Die 800 m lange Straße ist gesäumt von Läden, die von Vintage-Läden über lokale Designerkleidung bis hin zu gehobenen Boutiquen und internationalen High-End-Marken reichen.
Der Meiji-Schrein (明治 明治, Meiji Jingū) ist ein Schrein, der den vergötterten Geistern von Kaiser Meiji und seiner Gemahlin Kaiserin Shoken gewidmet ist. Der Meiji-Schrein und der angrenzende Yoyogi-Park befinden sich direkt neben der belebten Harajuku-Station der JR Yamanote Line und bilden ein großes Waldgebiet in der dicht bebauten Stadt. Auf dem weitläufigen Gelände des Schreins laden Spazierwege zu einem entspannten Spaziergang ein.
Omotesando ist eine von Bäumen gesäumte Prachtstraße in Tokios angesagtem Stadtteil Aoyama, die durch Teile der Stadtbezirke Shibuya und Minato führt. Das Viertel Harajuku, zu dem Omotesando oft gehört, hat eine eigene, unverwechselbare Marke für Jugendmode. Auf der anderen Seite bietet Omotesando selbst das Haute Couture-Ende des Spektrums mit vielen Orten, an denen Sie sich zurücklehnen und bei gutem Essen und Trinken entspannen können.

Yuki was fantastic. She communicated with us the day before the trip, and the company also reached out a few days in advance. She picked us up from our hotel, and we set off by train with two family members who had mobility challenges: one using a wheelchair and the other using a walker. Throughout the tour, Yuki regularly checked in to see how we were doing, when we wanted to eat, and whether we wanted to make any changes to the itinerary. She handled all of the train costs and took many photos that we were able to download later. We would recommend Yuki in a heartbeat.

We had a fantastic private tour in Tokyo. Our guide was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Keita (K) was wonderful! He was very cognizant of making sure of my ability to travel and see all the locations. I was especially impressed with his working with trainsubway personnel for access. As a side note the train/subway system is amazing. Lunch was incredible. K provided great history and cultural throughout our time together. It wonderful having K make sure we had the best photo opps everywhere we went. K went over and above after seeing we had another tour scheduled in Osaka and contacted his counterpart to let them know what our particular interests are. It was our first time in Tokyo and our first time vacationing with a wheelchair and Masaharu Kai guided us through the must see attractions and subway stations with confident ease. Wonderful day out with a very kind, friendly, patient, and helpful guide. We managed to have really good tempura lunch at a local Japanese restaurant and see a lot of the famous sights. Also got to try the local trains! When we wanted to buy some good coffee, he was knowledgeable and brought us to a couple of great shops! Recommended for wheelchair users. The guide (Masaharu Kai) kindly offered to help push the wheelchair, even though it was outside his job scope to do so! Highly recommended.

This tour was a great way to travel around several must-see areas in Tokyo! Masaharu Kai is one of the best walking tour guides my husband and I have ever had—and we travel often! This was truly an outstanding experience. I have limited mobility, which usually makes standard walking tours difficult. Masaharu made everything easy and enjoyable. His extensive knowledge of Japan’s history and culture, combined with his attention to accessibility, made this tour exceptional. Every site we visited was wheelchair- or rollator walker-friendly, which is what Japan calls “barrier-free.” We moved at the perfect pace, navigated trains effortlessly, and Masaharu knew exactly where to find elevators and accessible routes at temples and shrines.
