Ab 06:30 Uhr beginnen wir mit der Abholung unserer Passagiere in ihren Hotels. Unser erster Stopp nach einer Stunde Fahrt sind die hochplanischen Lagunen Miscanti und Miñiques, die sich auf 4200 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel befinden und durch den Ausbruch des gleichnamigen Vulkans entstanden sind.
Als wir mit der ersten Station fertig waren, zogen wir nach Piedras Rojas, einem vulkanischen Konglomerat, das durch die Oxidation des an diesem Ort vorhandenen Eisens entstanden ist, begleitet von der Salzwüste Aguas Calientes.
Der nächste Halt ist in der Atacameño-Stadt Socaire, die auf 3.500 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel liegt. in dem Sie die Anbauterrassen besichtigen und die Patrimonialkirche der Stadt besichtigen können. Anschließend besuchen wir die Atacama-Salzebene, die größte in Chile und Teil des Nationalreservats Los Flamencos. Hier halten wir an der Chaxa-Lagune, um neben anderen Arten, die in den Lagunen des Salars leben, auch die drei Flamingoarten (Parina chica, parina grande, Flamenco chileno) beobachten zu können. Als letzten Halt erreichen wir die Stadt Toconao, wo wir die Kirche und den Glockenturm von San Lucas bewundern können. Danach kehren wir gegen 16:30 Uhr nach San Pedro de Atacama zurück.

The Full Day tour to the Altiplanic Lagoons, Red Stones, and Salar de Atacama was a spectacular experience. The landscapes are truly impressive, especially the Altiplanic Lagoons and Red Stones, which have unique colors and views. The itinerary was very well organized; the timing at each stop was appropriate, and the guide provided interesting information throughout the journey. Additionally, the landscape of the Salar de Atacama with the flamingos was a perfect ending to the day. Totally recommended for those visiting San Pedro de Atacama.

One of the agent’s tried extremely hard for me not to go to this tour saying how dangerous it is for a person of my age and that I should take an easier option as the tour may have had certain areas at about 4000 metres. He was threatening to cancel my arranged tour unless I provided him with my medical conditions. Of course I refused and told him to all the places I had visited in the previous 2-3 weeks at much higher altitudes. Finally he relented and allowed me to join the tour. It is billed as an All-Day tour. Starting time was stated as 06:30 am but I didn’t get picked up until 8:00 am. Small van which was full. The only activity worthwhile was the first stop to get close-up of some flamingoes in a lagoon. The breakfast was around 10:00 am. The subsequent lagoons were not at all that interesting, at least to me. Neither of the 2 lagoons had much reflection and no wildlife or birdlife close to the viewpoint. The 3rd lagoon with a 3.5 km round trek to me was absolutely useless. Much of it was dry with salt crust at the edges and smell of sulpha all around. It didn’t have the colours said to be seen in pictures of the description. The red rocks were just around the pathway but were not interesting to me. There was no birdlife in the lagoon, unlike the lagoons on the Bolivian side. The included “lunch” was served around 4:00 pm!!!!, ridiculous. The company seriously needs to reconsider its timetable and the itinerary. The drop off point is not your hotel but near the centre of the town. You will have to find your own way from there. All in all not a tour I will recommend.

Due to the lack of prior response and considering the logistics and timing of the service, it was understood that there may have been a more serious issue. Additionally, the suggestion to consider a different tour was made purely as a preventive measure, given the altitude involved and the importance of having prior information about health conditions, especially for tours reaching areas close to 4,000 meters above sea level. For this type of experience, we always recommend informing us in advance of any physical or medical conditions, not as a restrictive requirement, but to ensure peace of mind for both our guests and the operational team. Guest safety is always our top priority. Regarding the tour operation itself, we have taken note of your comments about scheduling, itinerary, and drop-off location. These points will be reviewed internally and discussed with the team in charge to evaluate possible improvements. Interesting tour. Saw many animals such as Vicuna, Ostrich, Llama and Flamingo. Lunch stop at Tropic of Capricorn. Amazing scenery.
