(Nur an Wochentagen) Hier können Sie die erstaunlichen Errungenschaften sehen, die Nelson Mandela für die unterprivilegierten Menschen vollbracht hat, und wenn Sie in seinem Büro stehen, können Sie immer noch seine Anwesenheit spüren. Fahren Sie durch die Innenstadt zum Apartheid Museum und erleben Sie die tragische Vergangenheit der Apartheid. Wir fahren Sie dann an Soccer City vorbei, wo die Eröffnungs- und Schlussspiele der Fußballweltmeisterschaft 2010 stattfanden, und weiter nach Soweto. Hier zeigen wir Ihnen einen kurzen Film über sein Leben und Sie erhalten die Gelegenheit, sein Büro zu betreten, das so belassen wurde, wie es war, und zahlreiche handschriftliche Dokumente zu sehen, die er aus dem Gefängnis verfasst hat, sowie viele andere Artefakte.
Sie werden in die Innenstadt von Johannesburg gefahren, die einst das Geschäftszentrum Afrikas war und an Newtown vorbei ins Stadtzentrum führt.
Das Apartheid Museum, das erste seiner Art, zeigt den Aufstieg und Fall der Apartheid. Die Exponate wurden von einem multidisziplinären Team aus Kuratoren, Filmemachern, Historikern und Designern zusammengestellt und organisiert. Sie enthalten provokatives Filmmaterial, Fotografien, Texttafeln und Artefakte, die die Ereignisse und menschlichen Geschichten veranschaulichen, die Teil der epischen Saga sind, die als Apartheid bekannt ist. Eine Reihe von 22 einzelnen Ausstellungsbereichen führt den Besucher durch eine dramatische emotionale Reise, die die Geschichte eines staatlich sanktionierten Systems erzählt, das auf Rassendiskriminierung und dem Kampf der Mehrheit gegen diese Tyrannei beruht. Das Museum ist ein Hoffnungsschimmer, der der Welt zeigt, wie Südafrika mit seiner bedrückenden Vergangenheit umgeht und auf eine Zukunft hinarbeitet, die alle Südafrikaner für sich beanspruchen können.
Besuchen Sie eine Shanty-Stadt und lernen Sie kennen, wie bescheiden die Menschen trotz ihrer Lebensbedingungen sind.
Nach dem Mittagessen in einem der lokalen Restaurants gehen wir die Vilakazi-Straße entlang, wo Sie zahlreiche Verkäufer dazu bringen, ihre Waren zu verkaufen, was es zu einer Einkaufsmeile macht. Sie werden auch die Residenz von Nelson Mandela und Desmond Tutu sehen. Kunden können Nelson Mandelas Haus betreten, dies geschieht jedoch auf eigene Rechnung.
Auch als Freedom Square bekannt, ist dies der Ort des Treffens von 1955 in Kliptown, an dem Tausende von Menschen zusammenkamen und ihre Ideen für ein besseres Südafrika einreichten. Dies war der Beginn unserer Freiheitscharta.

We had a fantastic day. The tour gave us a great overview of Johannesburg and Soweto, we had a break for a very nice lunch at Sakhumzi (enough vegetarian options in the buffet to keep me happy) and then a visit to the Apartheid Museum. Mike is the perfect tour guide, highly recommended.

Mike led this tour and was a great host. He had deep knowledge of Johannesburg and the history of South Africa, which he willingly shared. He was also very aware of my energy levels as I had just arrived in the prior day. Unfortunately the Apartheid Museum was unexpectedly closed, but Mike and Tim quickly pivoted to ensure I had a good historical perspective. Overall it was a great trip and a perfect introduction to South Africa!

It was a great tour with Tim and he has a lot of humor. His knowledge of the Zulu language is helpful as he is in good contact with all the people we met! He knows Johannesburg and Soweto extremely well And we always felt very safe with him.
