Das Baptisterium St. Johannes in Pisa (italienisch: Battistero di San Giovanni) ist ein römisch-katholisches Kirchengebäude in Pisa, Italien. Der Bau begann im Jahr 1152, um ein älteres Baptisterium zu ersetzen, und als es 1363 fertiggestellt wurde, war es das zweite Gebäude in chronologischer Reihenfolge auf der Piazza dei Miracoli. Die Kathedrale von Pisa ist eine mittelalterliche römisch-katholische Kathedrale, die der Himmelfahrt der Jungfrau Maria auf der Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa, Italien, gewidmet ist. Es ist ein bemerkenswertes Beispiel romanischer Architektur, insbesondere des Stils der Pisaner Romanik

Die Kathedrale Santa Maria del Fiore (Besichtigung von außen) mit ihrer wunderschönen, von Brunelleschi entworfenen Kuppel ist die Kathedrale von Florenz. Der Bau begann 1296 im gotischen Stil nach einem Entwurf von Arnolfo di Cambio und wurde 1436 baulich fertiggestellt, wobei die Kuppel von Filippo Brunelleschi entworfen wurde. Das Äußere der Basilika ist mit polychromen Marmorplatten in verschiedenen Grün- und Rosatönen verkleidet, die von Weiß eingefasst sind, und verfügt über eine kunstvolle neugotische Fassade aus dem 19. Jahrhundert von Emilio De Fabris.
Das Baptisterium San Giovanni steht vor der Kathedrale und ist das antike religiöse und zivile Zentrum der Stadt sowie ein Meisterwerk der italienischen Romanik. Es ist eines der ältesten Gebäude der Stadt: Es stammt wahrscheinlich aus dem 5. Jahrhundert und erhielt sein heutiges Aussehen im 11.-12. Jahrhundert. Sie ist mit achteckigem Grundriss außen mit weißem und grünem Prato-Marmor mit geometrischen Motiven verkleidet und hat ein achtteiliges Dach; die Dekoration wurde im 16. Jahrhundert mit Statuen und Flachreliefs bereichert. Die drei vergoldeten Bronzetüren sind Werke von Andrea Pisano (Südtür, um 1330 erbaut), und Lorenzo Ghiberti (Norden, 1402/25 und Osten, 1425/52). Die Osttür mit Geschichten aus dem Alten Testament öffnet sich zur Kathedrale und wurde von Michelangelo als die Tore des Paradieses definiert; alle Türen sind Kopien, die Originale werden im Museo dell'Opera del Duomo aufbewahrt.
Angrenzend an die Kathedrale Santa Maria del Fiore befindet sich der von Giotto entworfene Glockenturm (Besichtigung von außen). Giottos Glockenturm ist der majestätische Glockenturm der Kathedrale und eines der Meisterwerke der italienischen Gotik. Der Glockenturm hat eine quadratische Grundfläche von etwa 15 Metern pro Seite mit Eckverstärkungen, die bis zur horizontalen, auskragenden Krone in einer Höhe von 84,7 Metern reichen.
Seit dem 14. Jahrhundert ist die Piazza della Signoria das Zentrum des politischen Lebens von Florenz. Auf dem Platz fanden wichtige historische Ereignisse und große Triumphe statt, beispielsweise die Rückkehr der Medici im Jahr 1530. Die berühmten Skulpturen auf der Piazza della Signoria beziehen sich auf die politischen Ereignisse in Florenz. Der David (das Original befindet sich in der Accademia-Galerie) wurde von Michelangelo geschaffen und vor dem Palazzo Vecchio aufgestellt, um die Macht der Florentiner Republik im Gegensatz zur Tyrannei der Medici zu symbolisieren. Im Auftrag der Medici ermöglichte es ihnen, völlig sicher vom Palazzo Vecchio zum Palazzo Pitti zu gelangen, ohne die Straßen von Florenz überqueren zu müssen. Zur Zeit des Baus des Korridors befanden sich die Metzgereien auf der Ponte Vecchio, deren Aktivität wahrscheinlich den Durchgang der Medici störte, die sie 1593 verlegen ließen und durch die „dekorativeren“ Goldschmiedewerkstätten ersetzten.
Der Piazzale Michelangelo ist der eindrucksvollste Punkt von Florenz. Von hier aus können Sie die ganze Stadt mit ihren prächtigen Denkmälern bewundern. ★★★★★ Absolutely the Highlight of Our Trip to Tuscany! I almost canceled this excursion because of the long drive from Rome, and I am so grateful that I didn’t. It ended up being our favorite tour of the entire trip! Our driver, Artur, was outstanding. The ride was smooth, comfortable, and safe, and with a rest stop halfway both to Tuscany and on the return trip, the drive was much easier than expected. Our tour leader, Nariman, made the hours fly by. He is incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating history, stories, and fun facts throughout the journey that kept everyone engaged. He also proudly called himself the “best photographer,” and he absolutely lived up to that title! He happily took countless photos for everyone throughout the day and made sure we all had wonderful memories to bring home. Pisa completely exceeded my expectations. Pictures simply do not do it justice. The Piazza dei Miracoli is breathtaking, and every building is stunning. One of the most unforgettable moments was inside the Baptistry when our guide requested a demonstration of its incredible acoustics. A staff member stepped into the center and sang, and hearing her beautiful voice echo throughout the building gave me chills. It was one of the most moving experiences of our entire vacation. Florence was equally amazing. Before we even arrived, Nariman made restaurant reservations for us so we didn’t have to waste our free time waiting for a table. That thoughtful gesture allowed us to enjoy over two hours exploring this incredible city. Our Florence guide, Luis, was fantastic. His passion for Florence, its history, and Michelangelo was obvious in every story he shared. He didn’t just recite facts. He brought the city to life and made us appreciate what we were seeing so much more. I had the most amazing small group tour from Rome to Pisa and Florence. Nariman, our guide was fun, engaging, kind, inclusive, and brilliant. Emanuele, our driver, was also very welcoming, a great driver, very observant, engaging, and handled any challenges with ease. I trusted these guys with my life. I would send my kids on the road with them. These gentlemen are such an asset to this company. They made my first trip to Italy so memorable. As a bonus, members of my tour have all become friends. We check in with one another, and have even made plans to meet up to visit in our respective cities. We were able to become friendly with another group on the same tour. Our driver, Luigi, should be a NASCAR driver. He drives fast, but very carefully. He is also a great person to hang out with. Very glad to we got to meet him. Our guide, Malak, was amazing! She was very informative and kind. She even gave my wife and daughter a great place to get real authentic leather purses. She was an expert on what we were observing, and continually filled us in with local information. The best part of all, was that 90% of the time, it was just my family, Malak and Luigi. You could not have asked for a better trip. It was worth every penny!

Nariman and Roberto were INCREDIBLE!!! The tour is incredibly long at 14 hours, including 7 hours of drive time, but with these two leading the way, it didn’t feel that way.
